| I've been getting bags from a local bank. Usually they are 20 to 25% cu. Two recent bags were about 61% each with lots of shiny 80's and no wheats. I suppose someone put them away sometime in mid 80's. |

Just finished a box of pennies while watching the NCAA basketball tournament:
749 1959-82 Cu Cents 29.96% 7 wheat cents, oldest 1930 6 Canadian cents
Pretty unspectacular box really...oh by the way, this makes post #1000 so I will be PM'ing the contest winners from the other thread. |

One more box finished....
866 1959-82 Cu cents 34.64% 7 wheat cents again, oldest 1917 9 Canadian cents
My 59-82 coppers are staying consistent, but I have seen a noticeable decrease in the number of wheats. I was averaging close to 12 a box, and last 3 have been 5, 7, and 7. |

Since i havent posted any finds here for the year i will finally do so. They are on the lame side. Was sidelined for the first part of the year due to illness. I dont keep up with percentages much as some of my finds come from work. I do average 25-30% on copper though.

Did about $20.00 in CWR pennies today & seem to be running about 40% copper & 60% in zinc. My % is high since I am in Canada. Surprisingly I always get about 1 1/2 to 2 rolls in US pennies.

I got $10 in pennies and $20 in nickels earlier in the day yesterday. Then Got a box of pennies later in the day. Here are my results
$20 Nickels 4 pre 60 2 1942 55d 58
$10 pennies CWR Copper:195 19.5%* 82: 28 Wheats:2: 52s 55 Canadian:1: 77 Cu S mints: 3 59:1 59d:1
$25 pennies Brinks box Copper: 580 23.2%* 82: 83 Wheats:8: 36, 37, 47d, 51d, 55, 56d, 57d, 58d Canadians:6: 95, 77, 62, 73, 78, 04 Cu S mints:6 59d:2 BU cents:3: 60, 60, 61
Overall nothing special I averaged way less Wheats than normal and more canadians than normal.
On a brighter note i finally hit Wheat number 100 for the year. man its been a slow year lmao. I am two rolls short of having two bricks full of coppers for the year which I am sure will be made up easily by the 82's
*Copper percentages are listed for Cu non "keepers" they do not include wheats, s mints, 59's or canadians. They also do not include the 82's as i havent weighed them yet. So my numbers are likely more around the 26-27% range. Im thinking of taking all my 82's and scales to work this evening to weigh them out.
Oh yeah i also got a mint roll of 08 pennies from the cashier at wally world last night!

A friend from work brought her penny jar for me to look through. Not sure how many there was but it was a bunch lol.
8 wheats: 37 42 44 45d 49d 50d 57 58d
7 Canadians 53 66 67 84 93 00 00
Misc: 59:2 59d:4 70s:2 73s:1 74s:1 BU 63
18 rolls of copper cents
I also took my 82's to work and finally weighed them out. i eneded up with.
486 copper 67 zinc
so 87% of them were copper. For the hand sorters who keep copper you are throwing away alot of copper if you throw your 82's back.
I am now around 65 dollars in copper cents for the year.

Doing a little sorting before work today,(yes, addicted). When I sort I watch for dimes as I pour the coins into the machine. I then watch for dimes coming out the chute. Quite a few were coming out. Then bam, a steel cent. Sure I've found several, but it's been a while and they are good finds to me.

Got a call from one of my banks yesterday saying they had some pennies for me. Stopped by this morning and picked up 200 CWR pennies and 60 CWR dimes. The power was out so the bank was dark, and they couldn't get into the vault. But they knew me so they let me in and sold me what they had behind the counter.
Then at coin club tonight I got a Mexico gold peso for $45, a couple of 1/10 pandas for $95 each, 3 Walkers from the 20's for 11x and 3 silver quarters for 10x. |

Got another 40 CWR in pennies and 40 CWR dimes at the same bank today.
I also got 20 BWR pennies from a Credit Union I had never been to before. They said they couldn't sell me the $10 worth of pennies because I wasn't a member. So I gave them $5 and opened an account. Then they gave me an extra $50 just for opening an account.. Sweeeeeet! That's 2 boxes of pennies!
And the kicker.. You guys know how I have never been able to find a bank or savings & loan with a coin counter in my area? I know you have felt really sorry for me 'cause I have to bag or roll my pennies with all those machines. Well, this new CU has a FREE Coinstar in the lobby!!!! Finally, after all this time.. I find the holy grail.
They even said they would be happy to order boxes of pennies and half dollars for me! |
