My personal best.
Haven’t sorted in about 2 months. Went to my regular pick up bank to cash some checks and the teller ask me if wanted a box of cents. I wasn’t planning on it but couldn’t say no.
741 CU 78 82’s 3 Canadian
30.6% (with the 82’s and Canadians out of the numbers). Only 4 wheat’s my average is 10, and lowest until this box was 8.

Ran a few bags (5). Average results for my area. I did find 45 dimes in those bags though. All those bags are from one credit union branch. I get all their bags.

$25 NF String box....results as follows: 6 s mints ('70(x3), '71(x2), '72) 0.2%; 8 wheats ('10, '39, '44d, '49d, '52d, '56d(x2), '58d) 0.3%; 14 Canadian ('53, '58, '62, '80(x4), '81, '82(x2), '83, '84, '95, '98) 0.6%; 96 1982 (76 Cu/20 Zn) 4%; 656 Cu 26%; 1,720 Zn 69%. Average numbers again. Highlights were the highest number of Canadians yet found in a box, the first time ever finding 2 Canadians in the same roll, and the 1910 wheatie (my oldest found yet). Unfortunately, it's in horrible condition, with what appears to be cement crusted on most of the reverse... |

On my 40th birthday (Feb 24th) I scored $14.00 in mostly CWR (one roll was an ancient machine wrapped paper roll)
There's nothing cooler than getting coins in old looking paper rolls...what is the copper equivalent of the Silver Santa? The Copper Fairy?
The yield was 100% copper pennies! Happy birthday to me!
Dates from 1940s (2 wheat cents) to 1977. There were 2 Canadian pennies in there both 100% copper both from the 1960s.
Other coins pickups are yielding from 30-40% US copper pennies for me. I actually saw a few more wheats in those percentage-wise as well as a few more Canadian copper pennies percentage-wise.
I love country living and this is the one upside to economic hard times (people definitely cashed in their change from home over the last several weeks and I'm the beneficiary).

Picked up a few bags last week, got one $50 bag that had about $1 zinc in it, the rest copper. Coins had that "been rolled for years" look to them, where they look kindof "dusty" for lack of a better term. There were many BU early 70's coins too. The girls at the bank had already unwrapped them at the bank, then called. How helpful.

The wife and I toss all of our pocket change into a very large jar. Well, I've been sorting and rolling it up and taking all the clad stuff to the bank. Silver, foreign and steel pennys never make it into the jar so that only leaves me with pennies to separate.
On that pocket change I am finding over 20% pre 82s. Not to bad I guess. |
