At multiple banks on the way home, I bought a total of 34 halves. All skunk! However, I did find a 2005-D NIFC.

Made the rounds to several banks today looking for halves, I got 3 string rolls and $217.50 from CWR's and teller trays. Result is no silver from the string rolls, but 5 40% haves were found in the CRW's. I wonder if the armored car company searches for silver, or I miss what little good stuff they might have. I have never gotten a keeper out of the string rolls I get. There are 2 armored car/coin wrapping companies in town, Loomis, and Secure-Trans (a local company). The bank that orders my halves gets them through Secure Trans. I have not found out who Loomis services.

They are worth what ever the market will allow.
If you try to buy them at a coin shop they'll cost $.75 to a buck.

I like to save NIFC's because I think my children will be able to sell them for more than face value after I'm long gone.

PS - I'll give you $10 for them and pay for shipping.
If you want to sell them, PM me.

But the real issue around here seems to be a matter of TRUST. Of the many, many banks I have wandered into, none of them will accept CWR's. Even the bank where I get my weekly $50 bag will not accept them from me. "We would have to open up the rolls. Everything must go through the coin counting machine. It's a RULE."

This is the explanation of why I can never get CWR's. They just do not exist in SE Wisconsin so far as I can tell. You guys that can get the CWR's just don't know how lucky you really are. The monster solid silver rolls will never be a reality for me. As an example, look at Amaleki's five solid rolls of silver halves, most 90%. And Bluegill's AWESOME dime find from late last year (400+ silvers as I recall). CWR's. I just can't imagine that ever happening with machine wrapped rolls.

I'm going to take the dimes to a bank branch that has some sort of Cummins counter. It is lightning fast and always accurate on the halves. I'll just have to see how it works out. If it does go well, then I'll be kicking myself for passing on all those dime bags since last June.

Jeff

I was kind of joking about the rolling. We don't have any banks here with lobby machines, so I pretty much don't have much choice but to roll if I am going to go through coins.

Interesting to note the big differences in various parts of the country. Out here CWR's are as common as clad coinage. I regularly get offered $7-800 at a time from a lot of my drive-bys.. not many are halves, though. Sometimes they call me on the phone and beg me to come over and pick them up. I agree that the odds of getting a monster roll are much better with CWR. The odds of getting shorted are also much better. Would love to have banks with coin machines out here. Then I could buy all those bags from the banks and really get serious about my penny sorting.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Results of this week's load:

$15,000 in halves (30 boxes):
67 40%
18 90%
2 franklin
1 walker
1 Bicentennial S
1 1987
5 Proofs

Nearly identical to last week's results. Some boxes were skunk, some only had a coin or 2, some were hot. I would give more details but It's far too exhausting even going through this many boxes. I don't anticipate doing this again for at least two weeks. I'll keep everyone updated.
