$4,000 in bagged halves 2 bags were skunks 1 bag had 2 40%ers 1 bag had 5 '64's, 1 Franklin late 50's, and $7.50 in 40%ers
I get them from a friendly bank every couple of weeks. They are out of town so whenever I go, I give them some warning so they can order them. The bags come from loomis and are just from their inventory of what they've picked up from banks. Both of the skunks were marked as being from a credit union so maybe it's somebody's dump bank. I don't pay much attention to dates other than for sliver content, but if thats what your keeping track of I'll pay closer attention. I also bought $3.00 FV 64's or older for 10xface and some 40%ers for 2xFace from one of the tellers. Not such a good deal today but was ok last week... I try to pay as much as possible to the tellers so they are inclined to sell to me or reccomend me to their friends and customers.... |

| Alaska is finally on the board for 2010. $42.00 searched and 1 1969 40%. I had to hit 4 banks to find that. They said some little old lady comes in and sells them to them and then comes back and buys them later, so I figured that they would be skunk rolls, but it always pays to check. |

I sorted $200 in loose halfs... Skunk First $500 box... Skunk Second $500 box... One walker 1945 and one Two Headed 1976 very well done.
About 3/4 of the coins were marked with a black dot on the Obverse.
I found the walker in a roll of maked newer coin, weird.
Country, I am from Wisconsin. ( for the stats ) |

From Tuesday/Wednesday.
Late Tuesday picked up $500.00 bag of dimes from bank branch where I get my weekly $50 bag of pennies. I did this against my better judgment as I have always been skeptical of the 1 or 2 silver dimes per box and the inaccuracies encountered when returning dimes. Did pretty good...
$500.00 Dimes (1 bag).
(5) 90% Silver Roosevelts - 53D, (2)57, 59, 64D 1983 Hong Kong 10 cent coin (Queen Elizabeth is on the obverse) (4) bonus pennies (again, I cannot explain this...bounce-out or bounce-off into bag???)
Also...
(1) 2009-P Roosevelt dime
The sorting was very weird. My brother started on the bag and did approximately 1/4 - 1/3 of it while I was out at dart league. He didn't find anything. I come home and drive him to his place. When I got back I started in and found four of the silver Roos within the first 10-15 minutes. Must have been concentrated in a small area of the bag. One other silver Roos turned up Wednesday morning finishing the bag.
Now I'm nervous about the dump I have to do tomorrow. I seriously am hoping to not get too screwed by the bank's coin counter. I will be content with anything north of ~$498 back. How this goes will determine if I go forward with the dismes. I have been politely declining them since mid-June from my penny source bank.
Take care,
Jeff |

HCBTT -
I don't have a coin rolling machine and hand rolling would be pretty rough. The bag was equivalent to two boxes and rolling 100 rolls by hand...well, I just wouldn't want to go there.
But the real issue around here seems to be a matter of TRUST. Of the many, many banks I have wandered into, none of them will accept CWR's. Even the bank where I get my weekly $50 bag will not accept them from me. "We would have to open up the rolls. Everything must go through the coin counting machine. It's a RULE."
This is the explanation of why I can never get CWR's. They just do not exist in SE Wisconsin so far as I can tell. You guys that can get the CWR's just don't know how lucky you really are. The monster solid silver rolls will never be a reality for me. As an example, look at Amaleki's five solid rolls of silver halves, most 90%. And Bluegill's AWESOME dime find from late last year (400+ silvers as I recall). CWR's. I just can't imagine that ever happening with machine wrapped rolls.
I'm going to take the dimes to a bank branch that has some sort of Cummins counter. It is lightning fast and always accurate on the halves. I'll just have to see how it works out. If it does go well, then I'll be kicking myself for passing on all those dime bags since last June.

Facinating info in the data Country.
I am very suprised at some of the stats.
I cannot find any silver dimes or quarters in rolls. Customer rolls are very rare for halves. My closes 35 branches have none ever. Now if I burn some gas I can drive around southeastern PA and find a few, and get a few silvers. Fun when I have time.
I have 14 boxes of pennies waitng for me to set up a Ryedale today. Have to work so I better get busy.
That's quite a computer Country!
I get 24M down and 4 up with my ISP (Comcast). A wired network is the way to go for me. I have 13 stations in the house and my seat has 4 24" monitors. I do use wireless for laptops and phones. I could use your comp and will be like my next rig when I decide to upgrade. I use windows home server and can access from anywhere on the net. Backs up all stations. I keep all my business data too plus a 4 station accounting package (peachtree)
I use a 2T mirrored network drive to back up the backups as I have had many close calls.

Great boxes! Amazing finds. During lunch I went out to a few banks and here's what I found:
Bank 1: one half dollar - skunk Bank 2: two rolls of halves - skunk apart from a really nice looking 1986 half Bank 3: no halves
Maybe better results later. |

Love to shop where you shop!
Much congrats and way to skew the stats buddy.
lol
I got cut off from another branch. (not cut off per se.....just that they want $5 per box of halves that I might get a few.
You are in the dream pile. It can't last. Enjoy it while it's there.
Still gotta be more pockets of silver out there.

These boxes are N.F. String & Son boxes with the holes in them (so you can see the end of each roll), with N.F. String & Son paper wrappers on the coin rolls. The local bank orders them for me -- I don't know where they come from. This week's boxes had no stamps on them, though other times they have CWI stamps or four digit number stamps.
Presence of the wrong type of coin seems to be correlated with presence of other good stuff (like lots of silver). Maybe both are the result of the boxes coming directly from a bag off of a counting machine where lots of customers were turning in interesting stuff, whereas other boxes come from larger dumps of halves that have already been picked over. |

Your right, sounds like they come out of a coin machine bags and into the rollers. I would bet those are Loomis boxes. Thats what I get around here that come in the NF String boxes with gold and white wrappers.
I see a big correlation in the bags I get. If they are full of extra coins and paper and junk they are good. If they are basically clean and no junk its someones dumps.
Very nice score, and congrats on the Barber. Your the first of the year it looks like. |

| Just stopped by a BofA and they had 18 halves altogether, having just sold $20 worth to an earlier customer. I bought all 18 of their remaining halves and was happy to see a 1967 40% half in there. Nothing else good, but I am glad about that one 40%. I wonder if that earlier customer got any silver ones?. . . |
