I just bought a set of coins in a holder entitled "Twentieth Century Type Coins." Tell me what you would have paid for them. None of the coins are in really good shape. The few coins that are in better shape came from common years anyway. No apparent mint errors either.
Cents 1906 1944, 1943 and 1970S
Nickles 1910, 1935, 1968 and 1943P
Dimes 1906, 1942, 1962, 1967
Quarters 1907, 1929, 1964, 1968
Halves 1898, 1945, 1963, 1964 and 1965
Dollars 1921 and 1922
In a seperate deal I bougth a dateless standing liberty qtr and a 1952 Canadian half for $8. I paid more than I wanted, but I like the Canadian halves.

I paid $55. I told him a dealer would pay $50-$55 and he might get $70 on e-bay. He asked if I wanted them and told him I would give him the dealer value.
I believe that the set was made in the early 70's thus it would not have the coins that Oober mentioned. |

You were right on, but I decided that if the general public is willing to sell to a local pawn shop for 80% of the value, why can't I buy for that price? Also, people are lining up to get ripped off by cash for gold. Why should we pay full price? |

The Westward Journey nickels, the Franki portrait nickels, and the Presidential dollars are all TwentyFIRST century coins.
However, this would have been an accurate and complete set if assembled in 1970.
My OCD os flaring, too. |

| $55 is right on bullion value. Not bad. |
