Found a dateless buffalo in a Brinks box, and nothing else. Not even the usual pre 60's or CuNi Canadians. The box was mostly 21st century with the lone buffalo. Wierd box.

I picked up 10 rolls tonight and caught my first dateless buffalo in a BWR. My nickel count is 2,400 searched so far.

Just found my second buffalo last night. It's dateless, but a treasure nonetheless. It was in the very last roll in a $100 Brinks box. |

BTW: CERULEAN ! With the year coming to an end, I want to say thanks for your dedication in keeping up this thread. It's a cool idea and cool thing to do. I'm thinking perhaps we can do these things all starting at zero on new years. Do you want to continue this? |

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

If I actively searched for them, instead of letting them come to me, I might find more....

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

I think the "herds" are increasing for a time. With times getting tougher by leaps and bounds and with older generations passing away, more change is coming out of the woodwork. Old rolls and jugs of change are getting put into circulation by people who don't know the difference between "real money" and clad crap, so I think will be, and I'm actualy seeing, more old coins in circulation. My last $25 in cents I went through had almost 2 rolls of wheats dating to 1919 amongst them and I found a 35-S Buffalo in a plastic roll of nickels...
As a side note, most people I know aren't aware of the difference between silver and clad change other than the slightly brighter look to silver and silver Washingtons and Roosevelts just go right by them. |
