I realize I fit into this category(having joined a little over a month ago) however, is having so many new members a good thing?
I found this forum and thus copper through a Ron Paul group and think it is good that I and others are hedging their savings and what not from the ebbing of financial situations. But I can't help feeling that these newbies are crowding the field and I don't know how I feel about that.
So I guess my question is, "Is there any hard/bad feelings toward the new and ever growing persons who are sorting/hoarding?"

(this is mostly just thinking out loud and after I think about it I do-in no way- have any bad things to say about the new people Much love to ya!

As far as I'm concerned, the more the merrier. Copper hoarders are far more likely to understand the monetary mess government has gotten us into. If folks don't already know about the evils of inflation and fiat money, they are far more likely to get curious and get informed by becoming members of the hoarding community. As the hoarding commences and the dollar continues its descent, perhaps more and more people will catch on!

Fiat money is evil; government/central banking is the inflationists' tool; deficit finance and inflation allow the statists greater ability to splurge on their welfare/warfare projects.

I think having more new members is a good thing. New folks bring a new perspective sometimes. We were all new at one time. There is plenty of copper to go around. And not all new members will be sorting/hoarding at a serious level. Without some new blood the site might get stale with the same old members telling the same old stories. It is good to keep it fresh. This site is all about sharing ideas, stories and experiences. With more members there is a better chance of a positive synergy.

While new members are great,I know I wouldn't want a new member with a Ryedale anywhere near me!!!
The banks are limited in this area and wouldn't want them to get mad at US

OK.. so it's settled. New members aren't allowed to buy a Ryedale until they get their 4th Star.

New member here also,a big hello to all.I have been lurking for awhile and finally went and got 30.00 worth yesterday to sort,I ended up with 6 pounds of keepers and 10 wheats which worked out to a 29% average.I realized as I rolled them all back up today to send back to the bank that I need to order myself a Ryedale and do volume, the rolling sucks big time so need a better solution for that.

First off, welcome CUKNUCK and any new members I have missed.
If the copper dries up, it will not be because of private hoarders. It will be because of a commercial outfit. The pool is getting crowded, but it is mostly full of good people. I do like HoardCopperByTheTon's idea of the new guys waiting until they get the 4th star before they can get a Ryedale....hehe.

Sorry Hoard, this is only my 25th post and I don't even have 1 star, but my Ryedale runs every night after work. You don't have to worry though I'm in Michigan where the Canadians flow like water and the Cu is still around 30% to 35%.

When my wife got after me it sounded like "Blah,Blah,Blah", but now it sounds like "Clink,Clink,Clink". Its amazing what that Ryedale can do for a hounded husband.

I am relatively new having joined this game in late January or early February, but I welcome more people to do it. Like one poster said we were all new at one time as well. Plus everyone here seems to be so helpful. Everyone has their different reasons for hoarding and different goals, but it's nice to have a forum to share ideas and stories.

By the way, I only have two stars and not sure when it will go to 3. How do you get to 4?

I would have deleted these forums a long time ago if I had wanted to try to keep copper penny hoarding a secret. I don't fear the common man joining in on this opportunity. Most of us don't have a fellow hoarder in are local area. We can only hoard so many copper pennies due to our limited time and capital. Most people will never hoard more than a jar of pennies. Many even who come here will give up soon. I have read on GIM of former realcent members who gave up and turned in their copper pennies at the bank. Industrial sorting and hoarding is something to worry about though IMO. Of course we have no control over that.

As I recall it's 500 posts for three stars, 750 for four stars, 1000 for five stars and 5000 for a padded room.

Hey Ardent...I was looking through some other threads and noticed that starwarsgeek has around 370 posts and has 3 stars so I wonder if 250 is the cutoff for that and 500 must be the cutoff for 4 stars. Love the comment on the padded room by the way...lol.

While competition is going to increase, I too welcome any and all who want to join the sorting copperheads.

I also was directed to this site from involvement in the Ron Paul Revolution, and I also am still a newbie in most ways.

But I jumped on buying a Ryedale as soon as I figured out that I could essentially double my value by sorting copper, and that sorting by eye was never going to get me very much.

Now it's just a race to hoard as much as possible as fast as possible. I wish I could run my machine every night but it's not possible. But I run it enough to keep my wife a bit miffed at me for neglecting other things around the house.

Sort on one and all, until the circulating copper penny is a historical footnote!

My biggest worry would be that people will start hitting up the same banks asking for massive penny orders. Most of the banks don't have a problem catering to that "one weird, eccentric guy that likes pennies", but I suspect that if they get a whiff that a trend is developing, they will kicks us in the nads with new bank policies.

Luckiliy there alot of banks...

Granted I still consider my self new to this, I've only been a part of this for a little over a year. Neither do I consider myself a large hoarder; I barely have $100 face value cents.

I really enjoy the camaraderie, and being able to discuss things I have in common with those who visit here.

I bemoan the fact our Government is wasting the dollar, that the people in control are abusing out liberty, and that I am not the only one who is willing to try and protect myself from these abuses.

What about building our own comparitor-based machine?

Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead?

That's ok... if i had a Ryedale i'd feel like it was wasted unless i was processing dozens of boxes per week, and i just don't have the capital for that :(

I figure if you're here you're smarter than most people. I appreciate having smart companionship.

One annoyance is that banks treat me like I am doing something wrong no matter what I do. First they don't want to let me have any pennies, then they don't want me to bring them back either. I went to my usual pick up place, where I have an account, and the teller told me "We know you want pennies. We have your number. We'll call when we have some pennies for you!" (They called once last week.) I went to another bank and they wanted me to open an account before they would give me pennies. Then they made sure I wasn't going to bring them back before they let me open an account.

A penny sorted is a penny earned!

Oh no, Flint is even closer to me than Grand Rapids. That's 2 Ryedales within 2 hours of me.

I'm at I-275 & I-96.
