The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities. |

Friday: $100 Nickels and $100 in Dimes. Total skunk. Nickels were all 2001+ and Dimes were all brand new in CDI wrappers. Been dumping them to buy groceries and lunch. |

Thanks for jogging my memory on the 39's, PreservingThePast. I just picked up the #1 Cherrypickers guide at a coin show this weekend. I need to check some of those War Nickels I have been finding too. |

The $500 face Cdn .999 nickles I'm selling on this forum were pulled out of $3300, or 33 boxes, or 66,000 nickles between August 2008 and April 2009. I averaged 15% pre-1982. US nickels; 2264 or 3.4%. |

Last night I found a nickel with heads on both sides. It is a toy becasue it sounds different when you drop it, and weighs more than a nickel. It really threw me for a curve, it was a 1994 that was in mint condition, so I turned it over to see if it had steps on the other side, and see a 1996 heads! I had to look at it a few times just to be sure.
Just found another 2 headed nickel. No wars or buffs in the last five boxes, but two 2 headed nickels.
Magic coins. Nice |

Checked $200 face CWR nickels last night: 1 Silver War Nickel 1 1950-D (my 1st one ever) 18 rolls were all pre-1960 (no significant dates in those rolls, but nice nonetheless). Neither the War Nickel nor the 1950-D were found in the 18 rolls.
I also bought whatever other CWRs they had: $100 face in dimes yielded 1 1964 silver Rosie.
$20 face in pennies yielded: 20.4% Cu 2 Canadian 98% no wheats

Nice, congrats on the 50D. An elusive one that is. |

Well, the 'jackpot' was hit tonight. My wife hand sorts nickels while I hand sort cents. We don't keep track of how many rolls of either have been checked, however she had found several war nickles, 38s, 39, etc .... no 'key' dates.
We had assumed that 'Buffalos' were only found by you guys that are the super hoarders ... but tonight, going through several rolls on nickels picked up at some banks yesterday, my wife found 2 Buffalos!
What's even better is the 1934 P she found is a decent, clean 'G' condition, while the second one she found tonight is a 1936 P 'VG' condition. Common dates but boy! ws she ever excited ... me too
