Hello Fellow SILVER treasure hunters:
In August 2010, please post your finds right here.
HIGHLIGHTS OF July's SILVER SEARCHING:
July was less productive than June: 55% of half boxes were SKUNKs and only 949 SILVER halves were found. July 2010 SILVER half production was the lowest of any month this year. $110,003.50 halves were searched to find them, similar to June, but the SILVER halves produced were only 80% of what June produced. About 4 SILVER halves per box on average were found. Could it be that the SILVER well is beginning to run dry? Dime sorting seems to be becoming more popular, and 227 SILVER dimes were found in July.
On the leadership boards: UDEric found the most SILVER halves again (256) and AGCoinHunter who had the lead was edged out with 241 SILVER halves. Like last month rakattack found the most SILVER dimes (53) beating cecropia_moth who had 37; and zerocd (25) beat brian0918 (17) in War Nicks.
Other highlights are as follows:
7/1 - cecropia_moth gets an 1899-O Morgan SILVER dollar from a teller
7/3 - BamaJoe gets a 1923 Peace SILVER dollar in change from a store cashier
7/7 - slickeast snags 67 40%ers in a $1000 bag of halves
7/7 - jtlee321 finds 7 SILVER dimes in a box
7/8 - UDEric gets his best half box ever: 113 SILVERs
7/12 - AGCoinHunter finds 104 SILVERs in a $1000 bag of halves
7/13 - Dumpster Diver gets 20 SILVER halves in $80 of CWRs
7/15 - brian0918 finds his first V-Nick: a nice 1896
7/19 - rakattack gets 10 SILVER dimes from a teller - 9 of them were Mercs
7/22 - ZigMeister finds a 1891 V-Nick and a 1914-S Buffalo in a box of nickels
7/23 - AGCoinHunter gets a great half box: 136 SILVERs, including a beautiful Stone Mountain commemorative half
It's important to post your SKUNKS as well as your great SILVER finds. That keeps the statistics honest. I'll try to post some graphs of our SILVER finds as 2010 proceeds along by adding data to this initial post. I'll see if I can post some interesting insights into the data here in this initial post for 2010 too. Even though this is a national tabulation of all our finds, I think its fun to know what finds are being made and at what frequentcy.
It might be interesting to see how many Barbers, Walkers, Franklins, and 90% Kennedys are found too. Also, how many Barbers and Mercurys dimes we find. I'll try to keep track of all of these.

The total SILVER count for each box is either the actual reported SILVERs, $1000 bag SILVERs divided by two, and a few SILVER counts that were extrapolated from multiple box reports that did not delinate how many SILVERs were in each box. The chart shows the number of SILVERs on the horizontal axis and the number of boxes for that count on the vertical axis. Outliers that were not included to make the chart reasonable in size were Slickeast's 183 and 229 SILVER $1000 bags, JJM's 397 $620 vault bag, zerocd's 132 box, UDEric's 78 and 113 boxes, AmalekiDad's 92 box, and 12kHz's wonderful 131, 155, 161, 235, 287 and 311 SILVER boxes.

Four dime boxes picked up 7/27 (Brinks) gave up a single '64 Rosie.
$1000 dime bag picked up 7/31 yielded a '54 and a '63 rosie plus 2 silver Canadian dimes, '42 and '60. |

I think I'm gonna go buy some lottery tickets tonight, I hit the mother vein today. $60 CWR halves... I pulled 7 90% and 56 40% for a total of 63 silvers!

Picked up $230 in customer rolls at a bank that rarely produces for me. I havent had a chance to finish all the rolls but so far with about 1/2 them open I have found:

Was not as many in there as I had orginally counted but 89 sure is a nice way to start off the month. The silver was concentrated in 5 rolls which all had the same wrapper. The rest were someones dump. Anywho I will take it. Here is a pic for your viewing pleasure...

$125.00 -- 25 CWRs
Silver dimes found - one -- 1/1964
2009 dimes found - seven -- 7/2009P
Other found - two -- 2/2010P US Dimes -- These are still pretty scarce in my area.
OTHER: Three 2009D Dimes received from a Realcent member/sent something in trade in return. These are the first and only 2009 D Mint Mark Dimes I have in the kids' anniversary coin jar.
Other stats: One roll shorted 100 cents ($1.00); One roll over 10 cents
Overage/shortage total: Shorted ninety cents
