Just found a 1901 right now. Thank the Spirits! I was getting dizzy from smoking peyote, dancing, and chanting in Sioux for a fertile harvest

Hoard now and hold on!

Smoking peyote eh, I assume you're joking. I used to grow peyote cacti but that was a few years ago.

Years ago I found a peyote cactus mixed in with the others in a grocery store.

Yeah... of course I'm joking. I like to save my hallucinating for when I fantasize about how high silver will go someday

Apparently you doper 1960's hippies need to start your own peyote thread.

You're a disgrace!

I'm going to pour myself a drink.

Anyone surprised with the results so far? Two to one for having found at least one... I'd really like to get a bunch more votes, to see how much of RealCent at large has found an Indian.

I was a bit surprised at the numbers, since some people seemed to be adamant that there are none in the wild in other discussions here. Seems to be something people razz each other about though, I'm not so sure anyone seriously believes there are none at all to be found.

Shortly after I voted NO, to my surprise (or Oh the irony), I found a 1903 Indian. My first. Also in the same roll was a once cent Bahamas with a starfish on it. Go figure.

I found 1, 1898, in the 2nd week of active sorting. I just hope it's not the last.

I have found two. One last year which was my second. My fist, I will never forget, it was back in 1973 and I was 14 yrs old. I also believe in Silver Santa, that way I get dimes in my penny rolls.

I dont think I have ever found an Indian head in change but I have metal detecting, but I don't believe that counts on this thread.

Just found #2! It took forever to get my first, but the second came relatively quickly. I was told to expect this by other posters, that once you got your first, others would follow more readily. But I was dubious about this phenomenon. Well I guess I'm a believer now.

i have hand-sorted $400-$500 in my "career" and have never found an indian head.

what i can't understand is how they end up in rolls. do people actually cash them in, or have they more likely been in bank bags for decades then eventually machine rolled?

even wheat pennies were almost never seen in circulation when i was a kid in the 1970s. i didn't even know indian heads had ever existed until probably 2007.

My 10 year old son has found 2 of them while we were sorting together - 1902 and 1900. One last year and one two weeks ago. Both times he jumped up and screamed, "I found an indian head, I found an indian head." That's one of the great parts of this hobby.

Have a camera handy when she sorts thru that roll, a pic is worth a thousand words.

This is my first post, but I have been lurking for several months. I found an Indian in my very first box! Beginner's luck I guess because I have not found another in the eight boxes since.
