*****Half time reflections*****

Where are we at in obtaining those copper cents from January?

I have $500 coppers to obtain or box before I reach my goal. As far as wheats go, I know I bought at least one bag of 5000 and another bag of 1000. Concerning nickels, I am at the same spot I was in Feb. By the end of July, when my economy is stimulated, I should be able speed things up.

So again, if you are new, where are you at; if you've been around for a while, are you still on pace?

"My new years resolution is to break 4 million pennies sorted and 1 million copper pennies hoarded."

That is a quote from my post that started this thread back on the 2nd of January. Right now I am at 2.3 million pennies sorted and 575k hoarded. (1.55 million or 620 "good" boxes sorted since the start of the year).

That leaves me with about 680 boxes left to sort to hit my year end goal or about 26.2 boxes a week for 26 weeks. So I am pretty much right on track though I have to worry about vacations and such throwing me off in the future (I spent 2 days this week drying pennies ).

Also my stash of unsorted boxes has been shrinking slowly but steadily as I was not ordering enough to make up for duds. So currently I am ordering 46 boxes a week to try and build my reserves back up to a 12 week supply.

I am going to do $200 (hand sort) a week, and there are about 52 weeks in a year so thats $10,400 sorted, and i get about 20%, so that is $2080 in copper by the end of the year and i already have about $1000 in copper pennies, so by 2009 i hope to have one ton of copper pennies.

WOW!!! Are any of you married??? My wife looked at me like I slipped a cog when I told her I was going to sort through and keep a $100 worth of coppers. I'm sure this will be like my other coin goals that once I reach my goal I will revise it upwards.

Yup married. I told my wife its for our baby's education fund LOL. She helps me sort sometimes - maybe a block of nickels at a time. She also tells me to get off coins and back to whatever I should be doing.

I started early in the year (Feb) and wanted to accumulate 1 million wheats a yr.
I've actually sold most of the commons and only have a bag of about 5-6 thousand of good wheats (pre 39's and steels) Possibly for sale if anyone is interested.
I've instead been buying 90% like crazy and want to join the 'elusive'1000 oz club by the end of the year.I have approx 50lbs of silver as of now so should be able to meet that fairly easy.

Buying CU cents!!!! Paying 1.2 unlimited amounts wanted. Can pick up if near Ohio area.

Well, i didn't start until April or so, if i recall correctly, but i'm hoping to hit $1000 face in copper by the end of the year. i'm at around $125 right now, so there's still quite a ways to go... especially with my percentages!

Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead?

My goal was 50K-100K in copper cents for the year. I am at just over 28K with a box being sorted today. I should be at 29K when finished. Anyway, I am still on pace to hit the lower side of my goal but I did take last week off due to moving. Once the moving is done and I get settled in, I plan to bump up the activity again so that I can shoot for the higher end of the goal.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

I was originally planning on sorting 4 boxes/week. I have been sorting 6-8 boxes/week. With a copper percentage of 28% that works out to 56 lb/week. I'll easily surpass my 1,400 lb goal.

My goal is to hoard 5K in copper. I hope to have it done in 2 years. That has proven to be a slow proposition w/o a ryedale. It is also slow, because of work and family committments.

So far I have about $800 copper pennies.

My goal is to keep a steady $200-$300 turnover in penny purchases per a week. I want so bad to find an Indian Head, a steel 1943 Lincoln, and make a 1909 - 1958 collection of pennies. I am about 50% fun, 25% hedge and 25% investment minded on my coin search lifestyle now. I must maintain the fun by buying every week. The fun is not in dumping the zinc. That is the work I hate in this hobby.

Not sure about my goal, as I have been buying and not sorting as much as I should. I probably have the only Ryedale that sits more than it runs. I REALLY need to get some sorting done, as I have a lot of zinc just sitting in those boxes/bags.

Update on my goals

$1700 in copper (forgot to consider the BU rolls) boxed. Though for sorting I am at 90% the addition coppers I purchased compensated. I have been making 4 boxes a week (sorted and assorted) so I should be done with the copper goal in about 3 weeks. Then I'll knock out the nickel goal really fast and focus primarily on wheats.

What can I say? I enjoy the hunt and the savings.

Many of us are married. What do you think drove us into hours and hours of the relaxed state of sorting pennies?

Are you kiddin me? One million wheats? You must be doing plenty of buying. I can't imagine sorting to obtain that many.
