Right now the going SELL price for wheat cents is ususally 3 or 4 cents each. Im not talking teen years or anything just regular common dates.
Do you guys think that their value will increase to 4-5 cents soon or should I just go ahead and sell the small collection that I have accumulated?
Sorry if this is in the wrong section...I wasent quite sure where I should put it

| Why sell them if they are not much $$ to set aside? I could see if you had $1000 in wheat pennies face value then maybe for the cash, but if it is a few bags, then save 'em and if they go up 50% in 5 years, that is much better than any investments will do for the trouble involved. |

| At a minimum I would hold onto them until 2009, when the new Lincoln cent starts circulating. It might cause a raise in collecting interest. |

| unless you need the cash and your into them at face, they are not going to go down in value, better than paper. |

I actually think they already have increased in price. A while back some of the older members remember buying them at 1.5-2 cents each.Depending on the time frame you wish to keep them, 4-6 cents each seems possible. Everything tends to rise in time. One thing I do hear is that common date coins never seem to do as well/increase in tandem with the rarer stuff.
But, that is only my opinion on the matter. |

| They ain't making any more wheat pennies! That saying applied to real estate and land, but this time it is different. LOL. Seriously though, there are new generations of collectors sprouted all the time. More easily than land and businesses folks around the world can seek out our wheat pennies as their affluence grows. I say there is a much more fungible market for coins than we know. |

Think long term! If you don't realize any gain while you walk the Planet, be happy if your child, grand child, or good friend nets a positive return on your collection efforts. Remember, we do this for the love of Cu disks, and real coinage! (And maybe to fill a Whitman folder or two.) Any financial gain is just icing on he cake, you'll break even if worst comes to worst. If you're in it for the money, you'll make more flipping burgers at any local burger franchise in the short run, especially when you add the time, effort, gas, etc. involved with sorting.
Cu will rise to it's proper value in line with the historic ratio of Au:Ag:Cu:Pb. (I'm expecting Cu to gain Precious Metal status eventually.)
The important thing is to enjoy the thrill of the chase!
PS - Wheats WILL become more desired as time goes by, on that you can rely.

I believe that the price of wheats will increase by the end of 09 to around 8-10 cents per wheat. The new types of Lincoln cents will spark more of an interest in penny collecting and thus increase the demand and then people can charge more. |

| Look at the ratio of potential increase to actual face value. You gotta have a lot of wheats for a collection to bite off a chunk of your finances. I have been collecting wheats for a long time now, and the 1,334 that I have only represents $13.34 face value. |
