Since I am not far from the west coast, I sort out a lot of "S" mint pennies. 1968, 1969, 1970, 1972, 1973, 1974. Dont find many 1971's for some reason.
For now I just throw them in a baggie.
Is there much of a market for these now? will there be in the future?
Is it worth taking the time and sorting them all according to year and putting them in rolls?

im not sure if there will ever be much of a market for them
i go ahead and pull em all out and roll em up by year though.
the 1968's seem to be toughest for me to find.
im in the middle of the country and i find roughly 4000 s mint cents for every million cents sorted

i like setting them aside, because they are some of the lowest-mintage coins in the memorial series. in fact, the 68 is THE lowest mintage memorial, besides proofs of course. but i don't know about "worth it" or if there is a market. i just like finding them. |

On a side note: I just had a box of customer wrapped rolls were I found my highest percentages of S mints. Maybe a West Coaster moved to texas and then deposited their coin jars!??
one roll had 3 or 4 S mints in a row, and maybe as many as 6 in that one roll. On average i think there were 2-3 per roll. Unfortunately they weren't bright Red UNCs.
that would have been nice. |

I too collect the S-mints. In the future they might get some kind premium- but its true that S-mint Rosie Dimes and Wash. quarters before 1964 do not have any premiums.
Also I believe hoard lives like 32 miles from the mint and has a hard time finding such cents. |

I save them too. In circulation, S-mints are rarer than wheats. For some reason the 1973-S is the hardest for me to find. |

Maybe S-mints are quite rare for you but they are definitely more common than wheats for me. I just toss the "S" ones in with the rest of the coppers. |
