Poll Question:
I have decided to run a poll on how best to store my copper cents. currently I am storing $50 fv in cloth bags sealed with #1 copper wire I could start sewing up the ends this will help with the stacking problem.

pros and cons

cloth bag

pros:
won't rip open very easy
will last for years
will dry if gotten wet

cons:
have to seal them up with copper wire or get a sewing machine.
does not stack very neatly
heavier then plastic bag

plastic bag

pros:
easy carry handle built in
stacks very easy and neat
lighter then cloth bags.
should keep coins dry

cons:
not sure how long they will last if stored in cool spot
rip pretty easy
If coins get wet will they dry?

well if anyone else has some tips pros or cons please chime in.
ps vote.

Choices:

cloth with #1
cloth sewn
plastic

do you have a free supply of these things? neither are free for me, but plastic is cheaper.

personally i store them in penny boxes taped up ready.

Buying:
Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00
copper cents at 1.3X
wheat pennies at 3X

I still have about 100 empty cloth bags my bank switched over to plastic and I get all my coins in plastic bags now (cloth before gave a LOT away) most of the time the bags are unsealed (as pur my request) so I can reuse them when needed.

so yes both bags are free.

its personal prefernce. i like the stackability. i don't have much room and i use a small closet and the stackability is nice.

the pennies are heavy and are not likely to be moved so plastic is as good as cloth in most cases.

i would use the cloth until you run out- that's $5,000 from now. then use plastic.

the stuff you plan to sell by mail i would store in boxes.

Find someone with cats and use the empty kitty litter tubs. Go to a restaurant you may frequent oftn and get their old 5 gallon buckets. I have a tenant that runs a deli and throws awayabout 5 buckets a week. That's approx 250 a yr. Not that hard to save you one or 2 I'm sure. Pizzerias and chinese restaurants have a lot too.

Buying CU cents!!!! Paying 1.2 unlimited amounts wanted. Can pick up if near Ohio area.
