BigCigar, Ouch! Hope you are using a scale to either weigh the whole box or at least do each roll without having to open it. You might want to try another bank.. you seem to have found someone's dump bank.
Sorting Report for yesterday: 9 CWR dimes 1 silver - 1955-S!
If your percentages are low.. just sort more.

Report: 4 Boxes Sorted Returned 7,333 zincs Kept 2,667 coppers 26.7%
A story about returning zincs: I've learned from experience how the coin counters work at my credit union. The machines hold 3 $50 bags of pennies. A blue light comes on when one bag is full (any coin type). The machine pauses between switching bags. If the blue light is on when I come in there, I have to guess how many pennies it will hold before being full. Otherwise, I can tell to the penny as soon as it makes a pause to switch bags.
So to save time, I try not to fill up the machine if I can help it, but at the same time I try maximize my zinc returns. So today I load up the machine and leave it about a penny short of full. While I'm standing in line for a teller, a guy comes in and throws a handful of change into the counter. Yellow light comes on and the machine goes sorry I'm full...the guy is like "what the fuh?" and he has to wait 15 minutes for the machine to be emptied. He must be thinking that he is having a very unlucky day. |

Absolute genius!!!
I love the story. Now if I can just find a credit union with a coin machine so I can copy your fine zinc disposal strategy.

Still no sorting, but still buying. Bought one Brinks box, $50 CWR, and $50 of assorted styles of wrapped pennies. I bought these yesterday. This morning I was looking through them and separating the mixed batch. I had to count three times to make sure, but they actually gave me $10 in extra pennies!! First time I have ever scored like that before. To make matters better, some of the customer rolls in the mixed batch are ancient looking and are all taped up. One roll says "1960's" on it. Can't wait to crack them open. Of course since I purchased the "over" batch from my main and favourite bank, I will be informing them of their mistake. Maybe earn some brownie points with my honesty. Well, that's my story. I hope that everyone has a great Thanksgiving.
Deal
I'm so sick over pennies....I frequently trade a dime or two for the whole "take-a-penny" container if sufficient coppers exist. That will get you some odd looks. |

It's like Monopoly.. Bank error in your favor, collect $10. Actually it is good to be honest and tell them.. they are probably going nuts trying to balance. Not only is it the proper thing to do, but you are right, it will probably score you some major brownie points and good karma. Hopefully they won's argue with you about it and tell you that they never make mistakes.. LOL

Probably not that time. That guy didn't have nearly enough coins to be a hoarder, but if you ever hit a credit union with a almost full coin machine think of me.
Seriously I've always wondered how close we may have come to bumping into to each other. Every once in a while I get a bank teller telling me how somebody else just bought a bunch of pennies or returned a bunch. I'm definitely not the only guy giving the tellers in town something to wonder about... |

| I send my wife in with the pennies. She has been going to the Forum Credit Union in Avon. I've only gone with her once. She has the account there not me. I hope we aren't crapping in your supply. |
