Since I keep track of how much I search to produce pre-1940's, I thought it might be fun to generate some numbers. During the period of the nine weeks just updated, I searched 526,000 pennies to find 108 pre-1940's. This is just under 1:5000, or one pre-1940 for every hundred rolls (two boxes) searched. Of course, that's an average, and sometimes you exceed that, at other times you'll get skunked. As a group, during this last period updated, we found 462 pre-1940 cents, and if averages hold nationwide (which I suspect they do with little variation) then that means that those who report on this thread had to search approximately 2,310,000 cents to make these finds. |
Hoard now and hold on!

In back to back rolls (CWRs) yesterday afternoon I found one 1930 wheat penny and in the next roll I found one 1926 wheat penny.
I wasn't able to report these finds yesterday due to stormy weather that necessitated the computer being turned off and unplugged.
Enjoy your searches, everyone. |

Yesterday I found my oldest coin "found through searches". It is a 1910 wheat penny. Not valuable, but an exciting find for me with it being my oldest. Almost as old as I feel most days.......
Enjoy your coin searches, everyone.
Edited to state that I found this one in a CWR also. Just like the last two I posted. Guess someone has been dumping long held coin jar pennies lately/still and I hope it continues. Still hoping to find an IHC in my searches. |
