Snappy, with those percentages you only need 1 Bag. I would have to sort 5 boxes to get that many coppers. And with the bag you didn't even have to break them out of the rolls. Plus, with that perceentage and the small number of coins you bought, you have hardly any zinc to dispose of. I am jealous too.
If your percentages are low.. just sort more.

20 rolls hand wrapped rolls today: 282 copper for 28.2 % including 7 wheats, 1 a 1934 15 copper canadian 17 1982's 1 bahamian penny and for the second time in a row: 1 black dime. in numismatic news last week there was the announcement of a new double die variety. it is in the 1982 philly zinc penny at the top of the reverse: the TED of united and e pluribus unum right under it. great work to find a new double die after 25 years |

I got kicked out of the super secret penny sorting bunker last week because of a garage sale. So I only got 3 boxes sorted. But despite that I still managed to find my sixth Indian Head penny.
Also I bought 10 boxes last week and added them to the unsorted reserves. However, 2 of the 10 boxes were solid 2007s.
Last Weeks Results: 3 boxes sorted 5,385 zincs returned 2,115 coppers kept 1 1907 Indian Head Penny 28.2%
Note these were 3 of my lightest boxes as I continue to sort lightest and store heaviest.

C140 is really slipping isn't he? I think he's working on some hoarding of a different kind. The most appropriate name lately would be C140 "archer" or C140 "Nimrod". My recommendation...stay out of the woods everyone, theres a killer out there somewhere.

He's just slowing down a little to give me a sporting chance. He knows because of the yield percentage differences that I have to sort 50% more just to stay even with him. And he did tell me ahead of time that he was going to slow down a little during hunting season. Guess now is the time for me to make my move. I will have to crank it up a little now that my busy week at work is over. Guess I should also talk to you about that second machine for the stable. Now if I could just get some of those loose bags from credit unions and find a few more dump banks I will be all set.
If your percentages are low.. just sort more.

Hoarding deer meat......
Ryedale: Love the name Nimrod...."Great Hunter" in Book of Genesis. I think there is a High School in the UP that has a mascot name of the "Nimrods"....Iron River, Mich????
I plan on stoking it up a bit this week.....been concentrating on bow hunting for deer and work has been super busy - 2 big competitors went bankrupt and we are trying to pick up a lot of their business.
I might have a big Canada run this week + I'm hitting every Credit Union in town this week. Local percentage has been around 33% lately....so HCBTT has to plow throug at least 1.6X what I'm doing....so, I can coast a little this fall.
BTW: Multi-Machines is very nice when you don't have much time....I did my $300FV sort + zinc resort + bag all my zinc in $50 lots for return....complete job in under 2 hours. If your time is worth very much, automation is a must.
My goal is 1 more ton of Cu (3 tons total) by March 1, 2008. I plan on hoarding 3 tons/yr every year.
I get a warm feeling knowing my savings is sound, sitting in my garage with a better than 2X intrinsic value!...heading for 3X soon....

Oh Great Hunter and Hoarder... what is the exchange rate of some venison salame for copper? I don't have any deer meat hoarded, and I feel sad about this.
I can see what you mean about the advantage of multiple machines. I will have to scrape some of my pennies together and buy me another Ryedale or two.

$5.00 'rolls'
100% copper :)
(ok, I cheated and went to the coin show in our area and paid 12.50, but all are BU between 1959-1973. Not bad considering the price of copper) |
