While dumping today went to a two machine dump location and got twice the usual amount of free coins from magnets and reject chute. If this is what the foreign legion section is for, please, I don’t want to compete. I couldn’t type it up every day and some of these coins are Arabic and Cyrillic or something I can’t read. Just passing on the info. I do this at all my dump banks, about 9 locations close by. All locations leave me alone, used to seeing me?, when I pull out the 7”x10” coin box on the counters. I am discreet about removing the wad of coins from the magnets. Also, the poorly designed reject chutes all trap coins and I bring a modified backscratcher to free the trapped coins. Can be silver here. The machine rejects silver quarters. So today: 3-1943 Steel Cents Canada: 1-Loonie 10-quarters no silver 3-Nickels 1=64’ 2-late 1=dimes no silver 14-pennies Mexico 1-1 dollar 1-2 dollar 1-$.50 Cayman islands 1-quarter France 1-Franc Italy 500 Lire Cuba 10-centavos Euro $0.18 in 8 coins Jamaica 1-Dollar (maybe worth a nickel) and 10 cents Barbados cool $1 coin Nederlands 10 cent England 5-pence Brazil (Brasil) 1-centavo Ukraine 10-Konihok Germany 5-Pfenig Poland-10-groszy
Big fat coin, appears to be cupronickel, detailed coat of arms with three spires up top. Stalin type on obverse. Can’t make out the letters AT ALL, no numbers period. Typical double daily amount but more spots on the globe.
So now I have a table full of jars with one for each major country and then regions and a Tupperware with unidentifiable stuff to date. Today’s big bonus: went to a bank near the coin show which started today and asked for a box of pennies and nickels. Got a new box of LP4’s! Shocker. Also fed the habit at fun show. Brought all my error coins and had some neat conversations. Wild day.
0CD
Neat coins. I think it's great that the banks have given you the OK to remove these wonderful coins. Maybe you're doing them a favor by removing them so they don't have to get rid of them. If you ever want to sell some of the unidentifiable Arabic ones, I'd be interested. Or, they might make some interesting RealCent auction lots.
I set up the Foreign Legion section to list the foreign coins found in our bank rolls, boxes, and bags we get from our source banks. I guess I never envisioned the rich panoply of foreign coins that you get from the dump bank reject bins. |

These are the "Penny Arcade" counters. All Commerce Banks had them first (I believe)
Yes anyone can get to the spots. Ask fb101.

$500 halves = 2 40% $100 Nickels = 3 WN.
Yes those spots are easy to pick. 0CD hits many more than I do, but I pull a fair amount from all over the world. I've been told they throw them away otherwise although I know in some banks the tellers save the foreigns. |

It will be an "S" mint and have a silver shine on the edge. Line it up in the middle of some regular halves and you'll see what I mean if it's silver. Will also weigh a gram more I believe, but no need to weigh it. |

| I posted a very simple map today using the half box and bag SKUNK data that everyone has provided so far. It gives you a rough idea in which states of the US the SKUNK boxes are being found by SILVER half searchers. |

| Just went through $92.50 in Halves. Two 40% halves and some post-2001 ones that I don't think are supposed to be circulated. |

Yes, there were three 2005 halves there. Those are not supposed to be circulated, right? The two 40%'s were both from 1969. Plus, the teller threw in a few free Pesos and Costa Rican coins because they had no need for them. |

Thanks....WELCOME to the hunt for SILVER treasure.
NIFC halves, 1987 (from mint sets), and 2002 to date (obtained from the mint in rolls and bags), occasionally are set loose in to the wild. Some of these become casino halves, but others appear brand new. Sometimes kids spend them, sometimes collectors get tired of them and cash them in at banks. |
