I could be worse.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
- Samuel Adams

That might have to grow on a person. I wonder what kind of mint errors can be made from that design?

i am not crazy about it. Is it still going to be zinc/copper?

I wonder if the public is going to go crazy buying BU boxes of these too. We might be able to flip them and make some money to buy more copper.

Then you should try sorting pennies instead of nickels.

Eh, who chooses these designs? The new veteran coins seems nice.

I dislike it. 13 states supporting the federal government?

Bah.

Ah, it will make them easier to sort. Now I can sort based on weight, ping, Ryedale discrimination, or just plain aesthetics.

Just my two cents!

A thought occurred to me over the weekend.

In 1909, the Lincoln cent broke with tradition by being the first circulating coin to depict a specific American person, place, or thing. In the century to follow, most all symbolic imagery would be removed from US coin designs. By 2008, only the dime's reverse remained allegorical.

In 2010, the shield cent broke with a century of tradition by removing a specific American person, place, or thing, and replacing it with a symbolic image.

This is a good sign for those of us who want to see a return to symbolic images on US coins. If you want to see such a shift in design philosophy, support this first instance. If you want an end to dead presidents on our coins, spread the word that you approve of the shield cent. This could be the beginning of a reversal of the trend that started in 1909.

Does it really matter if I like it or not, it is what it is. We have no choice?

I do like this symbol more than the other choices presented.

It is a fair representation of what Lincoln's Presidency did.

Silver Monometalism is the most permanent and stable form of money the world has seen. Natural law and history prove silver value is best multiplied by gold and best divided by copper. It is only in this counterfeit currency time when the natural law appears suspended.

Megaman, Thank you for showing this. I was glad to see what the choice is.

I really like this choice! I think it simply looks cool. It's a shame the entire thing isn't made out of steel or zinc or something. That would really cause our little hobby to get profitable faster.

It would be less profitable as all your source coins would disappear.

The eagle hasn't been on the quarter since 1998, despite the fact that they're still common. The eagle on the reverse of the half dollar, while being symbolic, is there as part of the Seal of the President of the United States, not as a national symbol.

Horrible design. Have you seen the new dollar designs based off the euro design? Pretty progressive...

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

When I give my two cents, they're always copper!

Thanks for the link.

I wonder how long it will take for the 2010 pennies to reach the point of being easily obtained in rolls/change???

I just counted the very slim contents of my 2009 penny jar. This is the eleventh month of the year and I have twenty-two 2009 pennies in it. Two for each month so far this year. I have never, ever seen it like this in the past. One nickel, no dimes and just a couple of quarters and a few Sac. Dollars in the other jar.

I only found the third design this week from the rolls my husband picked up for me from a different bank. May have to visit that bank again.

Unbelievable how slim the 2009 findings are here in Central Florida.
