Ok so Im a copper collector and only dabble in the Numastics. So here is my question I have been looking for the 1998, 1999 and 2000 wide AM and had some pretty good luck. I have found 3 1998 wide, I looked on ebay sales (past and present) and these sell for scattered prices any were from .99 to $750 mostly depending on grade. Two of my three will grade close to About Uncirculated and one probably XF. Would these be worth listing on E-bay for say around 10.00 each with free shipping? Never sold anything on E-bay but thought you guys could tell me all I need to know.

Being a first time seller on Ebay, you will not get the best prices for your merchandise. But selling a coin like this, with good pics should fetch a reasonable market price.
WHen I started on Ebay I sold a ton of silver dimes(at a loss) and bought a lot of stuff. My selling proces didn't seem to get better until I reached a feedback of 100. |

I could sell it there for you and probably get you a decent price. My feedback score there is only a little lower than my post count here. Do you have some good pictures of it? |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

| Unless its a 99 i dont see you getting more than maybe 7 bucks each if you are lucky. thats just me watching prices all the time. Check out the ended prices on ebay to get more of an idea of what they are going for. to do that go to advance search and check the box that says completed listings and search 1998 wide |AM |

| If you just found them and they only cost you a cent each, why worry about what you could get for them on ebay. If $10 or $100, your way ahead. And always state the buyer pays postage. |

FYI--Last year I sold a few of the 1998 and 2000 Wide AMs to a coin dealer at a flea market. He paid me $2.00 each for them. That is what the book Stike It Rick With Pocket Change said they should be worth.
The new edition of same book now has the price as $1.00 each. I just sold a few more and that is what he offered me and I accepted.
Try selling them on here or else to a coin dealer. |

| I need lessons on how to tell the difference between the regular AM and the wide. I have not found one yet. |

Easy way to learn to tell the difference.
Take a pencil and write a Capital Letter A. Then, without lifting your pencil continue an upward movement to begin the Capital Letter M. The are touching at the end of the A and the beginning of the M.
That is the normal reverse of the 1998 - 2000 pennies, and other years.
Now, write that same Capital Letter A. Then, pick up the pencil moving slightly to your right. Begin the Capital Letter M with a slight space following the Letter A.
This shows you what the Wide AM will look like. I need lighted magnification to be able to see these errors but they can be found.
Now the even rarer one is the Close AM for 1992. It is normally a wide AM--see this year penny to know what to look for in the 1998 - 2000 Wide AMs.
The error for 1992 is when the A and the M are touching. This is extremely rare to find.
Enjoy. |

One 1998 wide AM went for over 10.00 dollars today and it was in pretty poor condition. I think the markets right for me to dump mine. Thanks for the help. |

The above link is a good one.
Occasionally my eyes don't seem to work though when I'm sorting. If I'm in doubt if a 1998-2000 is a wide or not I'll compare it to a 1992. If I'm in doubt about a 1992, I'll compare it to a 1998 - 2000. So far I've found 3 wide '98s and 2 wide 2000s.
