One box of cents from Chevy Chase bank, 31 October 2009:

1843 zincs (1982-2009)
includes 10 2009 cents (4x LP1, 5x LP2, 1x LP3)
632 coppers (1959-1982) 25.3%
includes 3 S-Mints (1968, 1974 x2)
12 wheats (1920-1955)
6 Canadian cents (1964-1998)
1 Bahamas cent (2006)

1982 BREAKDOWN = 66 copper / 6 zinc (90.6% copper)

I was amused that there were more wheats in the box than 2009s.

I posted on the George V thread on how I found a '32 King in the first few handfuls of cents in a $50 bag I got at a bank. Final tally on the $50 bag. It produced 60 wheats, all of them from 1941 and up with exception of a 1926-D in AG shape. Also found 5 George VI's and two '67 doves in near AU quality. Also pulled a '68-S LMC in BU quality from the bag. I have been placing my all higher quality LMCs and Canadian Kings and doves and wheats in plastic tubes lately. I actually save all 2009's too if they have minimal wear marks or signs of corrosion. Some of them have been showing up looking pretty weathered in such a short time. Just went through $50 of CWRs the other day too. There was about 25% copper but no wheats at all. That happens on occasion. I usually find some wheats in CWRs.

One full bag and a partial. Both left over from last summer. 8427 pennies total 5610 coppers = 66.6%.

14 wheats
1 canadian rock dove
16 other copper canadians. This is low. Generally 100-200 per bag where I live.

MI is a hotbed of sorting activity and your percentage sounds about right for there. Unfortunately I have to get my pennies out here in CA instead of there.. so the percentage is only around 20%. My solution.. "Just sort more!"

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Thanks I was meaning to grab a box Friday, but I got lazy. All weekend I've wanted to do some sorting. First thing when I wake up off to the bank.

Sorted 4 boxes yesterday, two different banks. 21.1% Cu. One 1901 Indian, & approx 20 wheats.

Oldest wheat so far is 192?. I can't read the last # on it.
