I admit it---I'm envious. Finding .999 nickels sure must be fun!

Yeah, I wanted to sort Canadian nickels since before I even joined here but I am just way too far from the border.

Sorting Report for today:
25,000 coins - 10 boxes
4773 Copper
20 darn dimes - ALL CLAD-SO SAD
19.09%

Wheats of note - 1911, 1918-d, 1919-s, 1925-d, 1946-s BU, 1955-s BU

Still looking for that first Indian of the year.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.

Only got $96 in cents for the weekend. Couldn't go out banking on saturday. We took our daughter to visit UCLA on saturday to see if the school was worth going to. Her grades are good enough but I will have to do some serious silver hunting to pay the $22,000 per year room & board. That school has 40,000 students!

Opened $96 in cents got:
almost 19% copper
1 plastic thingy with VIPS, INC. printed on it.
2 mexican coins
1 1934 canadian coin
3 dimes

counted all afterward and it came to $96.31

Perviously I had only sorted about $6 in pennies. I had mainly been focusing on halves. However, this weekend I sorted a whole $25 box and this is what I found;

2500 pennies sorted

700 coppers (28%)
6 Wheats (all 1940's)
3 canadian (1 1954)

As for halves;

$1180 sorted
3- 40% silver

When I went to the bank I got $500 in customuer wrapped halves! I didn't look at them until I was home. Someone else in my neighborhood of DC must be doing the same thing? I have the day off Tuesday so i will hit the halves hard. Maybe some pennies or nickels if I feel up to it.

I have still not found anyone who will buy these locally? Any ideas?

Woooohooooo! Found 2 Indians tonight!!!

1929-S & 1931-S.. both in VF condition!

OK, OK, so they weren't pennies.. but actually they are even better than Indian pennies.. especially the 31-S. They were both found in rolls from the Loomis coin drop at work that I swap 5 rolls of nickels for each day.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

All the luck, never found one in circulation. That is awesome man! One of my favourite coins. I wish I had a coin drop at work. Were the rest of the coins older dates, or just two random beauties?

I didn't sort or buy anything, but I did order some more for later this week. I sort when I can, but I think I might try to really start building my reserve.

Deal

The rest from this batch were all common date Jeffesons. I just reroll them and use them to trade for the next batch. I have found a few Buffalo nickels here and there in the past, but usually they are low grade or dateless.. never this nice!

I wish the coin drop at work was bigger.. it would be kind of like Penny Express.. that mythical company Creekrat used to talk about. I only get 5 rolls of nickels and 8 rolls of pennies per day.. but it adds up, and sometimes I get some good ones.

I have built up a pretty good reserve. I just add to it every week when I get boxes and sort however many boxes I want whenever I want to with no worries about running out of unsorted boxes.

Still looking for my first Indian head penny of the year.

$109 sorted today

18.70% copper
1 dime

I also found a 1943 steel in Fine. I thought I found my first indian head because the reverse looked similar. But it was just some foreign garbage from 1966. Too corroded to tell where it was from.

First time ever sorting, went through 1350 coins tonight by hand (just what I had laying around from the last couple months or so), came up with:

352 Copper (26.1%)
925 Zinc
6 Wheats (not counted in my Copper count)
44 1982's to be figured out later on
8 that I was unable to determine the year of,
15 Canadians

Hitting the bank tomorrow to see what they have for me, may have to order some boxes. We'll see.

Thank you. Honestly, I saw something on another forum about the guy who is building the world record penny pyramid, got linked to his videos on youtube, saw a video about the RyeDale, and did a little investigating, which led me here. Did a little bit of reading, and now I'm ready to dive in head first. Just finished going through the $400 or so worth of spare change I have laying around, didn't find anything significant as far as silver goes, but I do have quite a large amount of nickels, and as posted before, the cents. I'll let you guys know how my trip to the bank tomorrow goes, although it may be postponed until the next day, as we're receiving quite a bit of snow here.
