I found my first 100 year old penny today, 1909, and boy does it look like it. If it has a VDB I wouldn't be able to tell because it is so worn. I keep checking for the S but it still hasn't showed up . I'll let you know if it decides to decides to come.

In the last month I've found an XF 1909 VDB, a VG 1914 P, and a VF 1916 S (along with a few other common dates in the teens and 20s.
I don't get very many wheaties (I pick up rolls from many different banks and hand sort-average about 1 or 2 wheaies every 10-12 rolls), but these finds are exciting.
Makes me think that there's a nice 1914 D out there in some bank just waiting for me to pick up that roll

| I find one, either a 1909 VDB or 1909, about every 6 months. It is a moment of excitement when you see the little "o" of the 19o9 and then check next to see if there is an "S" or "VDB". I'd say the 1909 species is slightly less rare than an India Head. |

I found about 5 1909 and 1 VDB, in a stretch of under $1000 dollars worth of pennies a while back. And haven't found a single one since... NIce find keep searching.
