I would like to introduce The Penny Wise Copper Penny Miser coin sorter. Sorts copper from zinc by weight at at rate of 1300 to 3000 pennies per hour. It's handcrafted out of wood. It's small and light 6"X6"X6" and about 2 pounds. It is self contained. You can take it camping. It's accurate, quiet and gentle on your pennies (Numismatist Friendly). One 9 volt battery delivers a 1,300 penny per hour sorting rate. An optional AC/DC adapter at 12 volts delivers a 3,000 pennies per hour sorting rate. Hi aloneibreak.. It's a new invention so I don't know when it will wear out but it is built solid. As a matter of fact the longer I've tested it, the smoother it operates and the more accurate it becomes. Lets call it a breaking in period. When you adjust it for the surface (slant) that you place it on. A simple method of adding or taking away weights, it is better than 99.5% accurate. And you can decide which way you want to lean so by letting a few coppers go by, you can be assured of almost 100% accuracy on the copper side. Hope this helps. |

Hi Slickeast. Each penny hole holds 25 pennies. (100 TOTAL). You need to attend to it every 4 minutes which give you time to wrap the sorted pennies. It's cut from a 2X4. By the way I just re-designed the penny feeder. it slimmer and lighter than the photo you saw. THAT'S HOW NEW THIS IS. I still have ideas and it's morphing as we speak. but it is ready now and you'll get an early serial number if you take the risk. And Remember this is not the Ryedale. It's not meant to compete with the Ryedale. It's a different end user. If you need to sort 100s of Dollars a day, buy the Ryedale. Ryedale's top speed is 5 times faster. The Ryedale is a wonderful machine if thats what you need. This is more like the steady tourtise. You want to do a $50 dollar bag. It takes 1 hr 20 min. But the job will get done. You want to do a bunch of rolls ... PERFECT .. You want to take it with you on the road. This is truely a light and portable and cheap alternative. It's hands on but easy. If a penny gets stuck in the counterweight hole, you just poke it through with your finger. It won't hurt you. So if you don't do $100 or more a day, you may want to consider it. I hope I've answered your question. |

| So far it sounds like a cool little sorter you got there. This must be the best sorting machine for the small time sorter, which is a market all to its self. If the price point is good, I see no reason for this machine to become quite popular. |

Where do the coins go once sorted? Are there 2 different reservoirs inside the box? Are they kicked out of the back?
Will you throw in the penny on the front of the box for free? Or does that cost extra?

We don't know that for sure. On the enlarged photo you can see that it is a 1982. It could be copper.
Without a video or personal reports it is hard to see how well it works, but I like the idea and give a thumbs up for the efforts on the machine and the site. |

| Yeah, a video would be nice. What is the accuracy, and how does it work? Is there a lot of moving parts? |

Pennymiser nice model you have there. I like the dual speed option. Have you tried to increasing the voltage beyond 12 volts? Good luck to you and your new device. Laissez-Faire - Drive the price of sorters down! ~jobIII

The penny on the box is copper. It 1982P. I got a bag of coppers from the bank back in 1982. I got 4,999 left. I knew what was going on. I discovered Greshams Law back in 1965. I just didn't know at the time that Sir Thomas Gresham thought of it first. |

I would love to see a video too but I just haven't had the time. But it is coming. This thing is a delight to watch. It's cute and fun. For a retail store owner it would be an incredible conversation piece siting next to the register doing it's thing as he sorts through the bank rolls and his customers change money. |

| Could you explain how it works? Since I am a hand sorter, I have never used a machine to sort. |

Also do you offer any discounts to members on here? :)
I seriously am thinking about buying one; hand sorting can get tedious sometimes. |
