It only took me just shy of one full year and 267 rolls of nickels searched to find my first Buffalo nickel in the wild. Yippee!!!
It is a 1936 and I believe it would be in a G-4 or just shy of that condition. This is very, very exciting for me.
Enjoy.

A little over 5 boxes and you found a buffalo. It took me 5 times that to find my first. Congrats.

Congrats! That's quite a lengthy hunt for the first. |
The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities. |

Congrats! I've gone through about the same number of rolls and. . . nothing. However, your announcement gives me hope! |

Thanks, everyone. Hoping to find another one and other coins that I have yet to find, like the IH, the Liberty (V) nickel, etc.
Enjoy. |

I was able to stop by the coin shop on Friday and have the shop owner look at my Buffalo. Since I am so new to this hobby and have no experience grading coins I wanted to see how my "grade" would compare to an experts.
I had thought that it would be a G-4. He, however, said it was definitely a VG-8. So that made me happy that the coin was actually better than I thought and I am glad too that I am being conservative in my judgment right now as I learn more and more about this hobby.
Continued success, everyone.
