Well I'm back from a 12-state road trip to the east coast and back. Interesting how it seems everything east of the Mississippi uses the CWR system and west uses coin counters.
Everything started off pretty well. At the third bank, I was able to get 6 40% out of 8 total halves. Then everything was skunky for quite a while; the next 15 banks netted no silver at all. However I did get a beautiful frosty 1971D clad Ike, a stunning scatch-free 1995D from an uncirculated roll, and two die-cracked (?) 1996P from an uncirculated roll:

I then was able to score a CWR with a 1964 and 3 1968 and the silver started to flow. Four banks later, a 1967. Two after that, a 1968. Until the end of the trip, I averaged silver better than every fifth bank. Except for two banks, the trip netted about the typical amount: 32 40%, 2 90%, 1 Proof. I was also able to get 5 Type I (bold lettering) 1976 clad Ikes in extremely good shape:

67 66 66 66
67 66 68 67
67 67 64 76
68 67 69 64 76
68 69 99S 76
67 67 66 76
66 68 66 76
67 68 67 71
68 68 68
68 69
68 66 69
The other two banks' haul are what the title is all about. Here are 11 rolls laid out in the order that they were in when purchased:

The first ten rows are rolls purchased at one bank in one town, the last row a roll purchased in an adjacent town. There are eight rolls of solid silver (of which five are pure 1967), one roll with 19 1964, and a roll with two Bens and my first Walker. All five clads present are 1971. Totals for these rolls are 36 90%, 159 40%, 5 cupronickel.
67 67 68 68 68 68 68 68 68 68 68 68 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67

67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67 67
Overall trip total: 38 90%, 213 40%, 1 Proof, 6 Ikes, 688 cupronickel (cashed in along the way).
That said, roll hunting is a waste of time, especially on trips through the countryside.
Here is a gift, taken on the way back, to all of you who clued me in to half hunting all of those months ago:

Thanks,
Jefferson

| GREAT FINDS! That walker looks lonely. Funny how there was the odd 1971 mixed in with the silver. |

Wow, nice finds! Wish my half hunting roadtrip would have gone as well s yours. Oh well I still made a decent haul.
How many total halves did you search through? How many banks did you go to? Did you go to small towns and big towns? Did you take the main highways/interstates and just stop at every town you came across or did you take the black tops and other roads? |

Bea-u-ti-ful!!! That description fits both pictures. Thanks for posting what you found. That was like a Where's Waldo type picture searching for the BFs and the WL.
The picture of the sky/mountains is awesome! Thanks.
Continued success and safe travels. |

I 'searched' 940 half dollars over the course of the trip.

Small and huge and everything in-between, whatever was on the way.

During banking hours I would go off the interstate and pick up a major parallel highway until 3:30/4:00/5:00 p.m.

Yes, it was a great change of pace. There were times I was ready to give up, but once my luck picked up there was plenty of motivation. It was great to see the territory and talk to the people, though eventually one sort of goes on autopilot when walking in and talking to the tellers.
I will try to top this score but I'm not expecting miracles.
