What are your thoughts on US 40% silver? |

IMO, a much better bullion coin than 35% nickels. It's not the extra 5% that makes them so. But rather the rest of the metals in the 60% of the coin that makes them much easier to smelt down to .999 silver.
Don't get me wrong, I like war nickels as a collector's coin and I'm sure on the look out for them when I sort nickels. |

I like them 10% Mexican silver coins.. you get a lot of them for your money and they tend to sell well below melt. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |

These sorts of threads give me pause on buying more 35% -- there is a sale now in Buy It Now that is below melt for a small amount that I contemplated.
Surely, I don't want to buy something no one wants, and I have some 35% if all I wanted to do was to hold it for show. |

Buy Ag, any Ag, now while you can at depressed prices. As time goes by, you'll be glad you did! |

What would be interesting is for someone to figure out the buy/sell price on 35% and 40% NOW. If its low or difficult to get a fair price now, then what will happen if silver hits $50? Some places, like Kitco, do not even list a buy price on 35%.
I hate to say this, but this goes x2 harder on gold. Unfamiliar gold is just as hard to sell. That 20 Centavo from Uruguay might be harder to sell that a 1/10 GAE to certain dealers and people as well. |

Hoard, I love those coins as well, but I have a hard time finding them at or below melt...I've only got 21 of them, most of which I bought at $1.00 each, but was able to get a few at $0.75...all the ebay auctions I see have them average around $1.25 - $1.50 each; Apmex as well is in the $1.50 range...is there any place online that you know of that sells them under $1? |

i accumulate war nickels for their historical value out of roll sorting; i only buy high-grade examples for collector value. i agree that they don't make good bullion.
i just flat-out don't like 40%... the only good thing about them, as far as i'm concerned, is that they sometimes show up at face value, and other people will buy them for a multiple of face. |
Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead? |
