Having read on the forum from others that you should check the CoinStar reject bin because it rejects silver coins, foreign coins etc. I reached in as I passed it on my way out of the grocery store. Usually I come up dry.. but this time I could feel several coins in there. Immediately I started imagining silver dimes. As I pulled them out I didn't see any silver coins. But I did get 10 coins.. 3 copper cents, 5 zincolns, and 1 New Zealand cent.. not a bad score.

Fun fact: The New Zealand cent was last minted in 1988, and has since been discontinued and demonetized. It is bronze.

I took $66 in zinc cents to a CoinStar today for an free coin counting Amazon gift certificate. Ran two machines for about 15 minutes. The first one did the Amazon eCert just fine, but the second had technical difficulties so it gave me a cash coupon without charging me!
The best news was I found a 1951 silver dime and a 1999 nickel in the rejects before I put the money in.
