Welcome to the forum!

You can just ask for boxes. Its much easier to search loose coins though, but thats a basis of opinion! Doesnt hurt to ask.

It depends on the bank, really.

Trolling is an art.

Welcome Phil, If you are going to ask for $25.00 or less you probably don't need to place an order. If you want a $100.00 or more each week then it is good to place and order. But make sure you always pick up your order, and try to pick it up the day it comes to the bank so your pennies do not take up vault space. With a small amount you can take your zincers back to your supply bank but if you get into it more and start sorting larger amounts then you will want to a dump bank where you only take pennies to deposit. Most supply banks do not want you to bring back the pennies you pick up from them. Good luck with the new hobby and hopefully it is not too long before you find wheats, Indian heads and who know what else.

COPPER - the "poormans" precious metal!!!

SELLING - $100.00 face copper shipped to you for $189.00 machine rolled or bagged - PM me if your interested.

Welcome phildogg, and what NDFARMER said. He pretty much summed it up.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."

One thing you might want to check into is a bank or credit union in your area that has a coin machine to cash the zinc pennies back in so you won't have to roll them all.

In my area we have a credit union that allows free usage of the coin machine in the lobby for members up to $100 per day.

I've found that it depends on the bank. I make rounds at many places. Some I just get $5 worth, some I get a box. Get a feel for your local banks.

Hi Phil, i'm a newbie here too.. just started and within $10, i found an 1893 Indian Head! Go into your bank and just ask for pennies? Also, you could go back at different times and talk to different tellers to ask. Friday afternoon i went to the drive through just to ask if they had any i could go into the lobby to get, and one woman said they didn't have $25 boxes.. but Yesterday morning i had to go in anyways again and while there i needed to withdraw some money.. so i asked again, and the lady was able to get them for me.

so just because one telller tells you one thing, doesn't make it necessarily true..

Also.. Coin-star has options to get certificates for businesses such as Lowe's, Amazon.com, Starbucks, etc.. so if you find yourself getting a lot of the products that they offer, you effectively don't get charged the 8.9%. Be sure to call your banks to see if they have a coin return machine and what they charge.. i know one of my banks charges 3% on loose change.

But then again, i happen to live near a casino and i'm going to see what happens if i go in with my pennies.. after all, they have penny slots! I'm going to try to buy there as well.

Do they pay back in money or just a slip to cash in with the teller or whatever it is called? If they pay back in money don't forget about half dollars!

Enjoy!
