So, I have a friend selling a few sets of the LP2's for me, well actually he asked if I had anymore because a guy is willing to pay for them 30 ea. But the potential buyer asked what the date on the boxes are.
Are there some errors being found in the 2 set rolls?
My rolls are dated 4/22 for what its worth...

Anyone have info on the good dates? I can't find that info anywhere....
As far as the main errors, I have been reading and it seems this would probably be a bubble anyways... They seem to be pretty common.
DDR involving the left hand, extra thumb or index finger... Personally I don't see why people would pay much for them, its so small... |

'artificial' collectors will buy anthing expectiing it to go up!
There have been very few REAL mint errors since the early 90's or before. |

These are being found in some mint released boxes. They are only on the "p" coin. I've read about boxes that are dated from 4/15, some 4/17 - 4/30 and a few from the first week of May producing up to 30 in a roll. Not all dates have them as the 4/24 boxes have been barren so far. The best seem to be 4/29 and 4/30. I read about one guy who already had more than 200 ddr. I read about another person that had bought up more than 60 boxes on ebay over the weekend with only these dates and was still going for more. Coin World just did a story on it. I got five boxes from this release period and thought I might lose money on them...now I think I might do OK with them. Maine_Jim |

I had 3 DDR's in this coin verified by a well known coin specialist named Billy Crawford. I found mine in the mint boxes dated 4/29. I have sold quite a few of them on ebay and have bought more than 30 boxes from ebay with dates that have shown to have the most DDR's in them. The dates on the boxes that I have personall found DDR's in are 4/17,4/22,4/27,4/28,4/29,and 4/30. There is word that they have been found in boxes dated 5/5. Go to PCGS.com and lurk around at all the threads on these and you will get all the information you are looking for. I tried posting this info in the copper bullion threads but I saw this here and thought I might help you guys out also. Good luck, and hurry cause they are finding many different DDr's and if you want to profit from this then you have to ack fast. Once the grading companies start attributing these then only the high graded ones will get the serious bids.I am going through all my boxes and pulling together lots of 25 to sell on each auction tonite or tomorrow. I will send in only my best coins to be graded to try to make money when this happens also. Again good luck to you all, and if you need any more info just let me know. Kris |

Crap.... DO I just break down and open a set. I have 4 from 4/22.... Would the odds be good I will find enough to compensated for the loss of approx. 10$ I have invested? |

To be honest what I have found in one set from 4/22 are only the DDR-008's which are not that dramatic and not getting much of a premium at the present time, which is why the boxes with that date are still low. The boxes that are real gold mines are the 4/17,4/27,4/28,4/29,4/30 and now the 5/5's due to a very interesting find in one of those. |

Mine were labeled 4/30./ Broken open couple rolls, and found some really weak DDRs, bunch of die cracks. Basically looks like a weak line between the thumb and index. Probably not worth much. I'll probably sell the other 2 boxes on ebay.
I have another 5 boxes coming in from an order that was placed the same day. I mgiht just list those on ebay. |

So, if everyone is finding them, then how "rare" can the really be? But hey, to each his own....

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

I wouldn't say that they are as rare as a 1955 DDO, but the select few of these that have caught the eyes of many collectors are only in a limited few dated boxes and even those have been known to not have any in them. My first 5 boxes were the ones dated 4/29 and I have heard of others with that same exact date and find nothing in it. Rare to find a DDR no, but to find the right one of a possible 3 good ones is a hard task unless you know the dates to look for and it is still just a chance that they are in there. I would put them in the category of scarce like the 1998 wide am's. Not a big deal but still worth getting and holding onto a few for the future. The others like the DDR1's, 4's, 5's, 7's, 8's, 9's, & 10's are very common. The DDR1 is the least common in that grouping and get's more of a premium that the other common ones. |

So I broke a "P" date open... Looke thru some of them. Wow its hard on the eyes,
But on 2 of the ones I looked at, I have an unatural line (die clash, die break?) Run almost parallel with the top of Lincoln's head, It is in the hair...
If I were to slice his head in 4 sections vertically, it would start from forehead side at the 1/4 mark and run thru the next 2 sections and curve with the head.
I tried to take a pic, but my camera sucks... You can barely see the beginning of it on the pic. |

I dont think "everyone is finding them". I popped open 3 rolls of 4/30 9774 and found some of the weaker, probably less valuable doubles. If I ordered a day earlier, I bet I would have found some strong doubles.
If none are found on the regular bank boxes, I'd say the strong double error is relatively rare. Like someone said, maybe like the '98 wide AMs. Not super valuable, bu tnot worthless either. |
