Over the weekend I found this "shinny" nickel in a machine rolled roll

I picked a normal cupro-nickel nickel and took some pictures just to show the differences.

Anyone has any ideea what is the composition of this "shinny" nickel?

Put a magnet on it.

The RCM did make some silver (sterling) nickels in the late 90's for collector sets. I found one in circulation last month.

My world coin book says that the silver ones will weigh about 5.35 grams compared to about 3.90 grams for the nickel plated steel nickels. Congrats on your find!

Regular 1998 Canadian nickels aren't magnetic. They should be 75% copper, 25% nickel. What does your nickel weigh?

To Cerulean: I do not have a scale but I will try to improvise something to compare it with normal nickel.

Thank you for all for congrats and I guess nobody knows what anyone can find in a bag/roll of coins, I still wait for the day that I will find some *gold*.

The different sound should be a good indication if it is indeed Silver.
Bounce it on a cutting board with one of the regular Nickels.
Silver will give the ring of true money!

Does the RCM mint coins for other countries like the US? I know sometimes a blank meant for foreign mintage (with a possible different metallic composition) can occasionally get mixed in with the US coins. Could this happen in the RCM?

The RCM mints coins for 20-30 countries a year. And I am sure that $hit happens, but getting rolled coin from the mint with a foreign would be next to impossible.

The US mints their own coin and would never have anyone else do it.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. Errors occur because the planchets occasionally get mixed up. This has happpened in the US. Perhaps it could happen in Canada. Check out the website below to see some of the mint errors:
