Poll Question:
If you had to move your hoard what would you need to relocate it?

| What is all this facination with the size of other people's hoards? My hoard is something only me and my wife get to see and play with. It's large and financially powerful, but private too. I hope it continues to rise for years to come. |

I think that in inspires everyone that is sorting, from the big dogs to the small pups.
After we all saw what C140 was able to do in just a few days it probably woke some people up and got them back in the hunt.
I know most want to keep theirs private. I do the same. And anyone can tell a fish story.

| I'm just messing with you all. Various versions of this survey keep coming up. |

Would that be a 914 or a 950? I have both. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

I didn't catch C140's story. Can you post a link?
Anyway, I agree that there is a motivational aspect to this. And, although we support each other, I think there is a low level competition going on here as well. For example I know for a fact that is at least one large sorter from this site in my area. A couple weeks ago I saw a lady pull $20 in pennies from my bank (just pennies and no other coins), so there could be several small-time sorters around as well. Therefore if I take a break I know that others may be grabbing coppers that should be mine.

| Actually - last summer I did move my hoard. I used a tandem axle trailer and limited the load to 2 tons per trip. The hoard is in 3.5 - 5 gal pails of between 140 - 180 lbs each. The trailer had a loading ramp. I used a hand truck to load and unload the trailer one pail at a time. The hoard is now stacked on heavy duty pallets.....3 x 3 pails per layer x 3 layers....each pallet is about 2 tons. I have a pallet jack that can lift and move the pallets as well as a fork truck at the new location.....the next move will be the final move via semi-tractor trailer. |

More importantly, how long would it take to find and gather all the various containers? I really should find the rest of my 1/2 gallon Mason jars in the attic and repackage them. |

| might as well buy a 45' container and load the thing top to bottom with copper. You might win the world record for "biggest bullion bar". (not really bullion bar, but still cool) |

First goal was 1 ton.....that went flying buy in the first few months....next goal was 5 tons.....that took over a year past the first goal.....then I bumped it up to 10 tons....still working towards the 10 ton goal ....been taking it easy for the past 6 months...as the job was a bit in question and I was diverting big $ to reloading component and ammo hoarding.
I do not know once 10 ton is reached....perhaps make it 20 tons?
I think 20 ton / 40,000 lbs is a full semi-tractor-trailer load....I think a "pup"/half trailer is about 10 ton....
I'm working on an exit strategy contact right now for the ban free Canadians....I'll be waiting for the spot to go much higher than $2....this is currently too much work to sell at $2/lb......probably waiting for at least $4 - $5.....I figure at $5 I can exit at $4 if I can find an end user....I will never go the scrap route - they cut too much for themselves. |

I've hoarded about 8 tons over time...but sold about 1 ton along the way.....
8 tons = 16,000 lbs @ about 30% copper rate......16,000 x 70%/30% = 37,300 lbs of Zinc = 18.5 tons of Zinc.
You have identified the key challenge of hoarding.
Crazy hobby/investment activity we have here.....

| Right now, A 5 Gallon Bucket will do. Hopefully though, with my increased buying efforts and sorting, I can move up to a 55 gallon drum. =] |
