I'd be curious to hear how NC is for halves. Someone posted that pennies are about all zinc only in the Charlotte area. Wondering how Raleigh is just out of curiosity. Which center sends out halves to NC? Is it out of Atlanta or Charlotte perhaps?

Its all about the little towns my friend. Little towns have little banks which dont deal very much with halfs. Most of the time they just sit in their vaults for a long time!

Out of all the rolls today..2 were MEGA rolls! 1 roll had 12 40%'s in it and another roll had 8 40%'s in it The best Mega roll I ever had was 17 silver out of the 20 coins!

A proof is made with specially polished dies and polished planchets and is literally like looking into a mirror. Cameo proofs, which many are nowadays have the raised portions (ie;head) frosted looking.

Many proofs found in circulation are hardly recognizable for mirroring, they're scrathced until the mirroring is gone, but they can be identified by the "S" mintmark if after 1970 or so.

Not likely to find a pre-1970 proof in circulation.

Another question for ya. I have a loupe I been using to get a close look at the 1/2's, anyways I have found 2 1971's that the strike on the front (obverse?) is slightly off center, probably .015-.025... Any numeristic value in those?

And I know someone mentioned that the 1972 w/o FG may be of value. well looking where it should be I only see the very top of the letters, but the rest is gone, and it doesnt look worn off either. This 1/2 is in pretty good shape. So do the 1972 w/o FG have absolutely no FG or just a partial?

Picked up a box of halves and found my first walking liberty halves. I found a 1943 and a 1944 go go with 2 1964 JFK's and 4 40% halves. Both of the walkers were in back to back rolls in the middle of the box. The box was dated May 8, 2008

I got a visit from Silver Claus today. After a long drought, I finally got a box with Ag. I knew it was going to be a decent box when I cracked it open and had 5 Ag looking at me.

The left middle is a '64. The one next to it is a '67. The bottom left corner is a '65. In addition to the Franklin and Walker.

Total score was...

Plus a total of 4 90%, 21 40%, and these '07P's.

I do have a question. Did they make proofs in '67? One of these has a proof like finish, but no cameo or mint mark. Except for the lack of a cameo, it has the mirror finish like my '68S.

Wow. Great finds for sure! Congratulations indeed.

Deal

Live free or die.
Plain and simple.

"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen."
