a couple questions. Do Dollar coins come in rolls and how many in each roll? Same question for halfs.
for those that have trouble returning coins to the bank do you ever have your wife or family memeber take a few to spread it out a bit?

You will see a silver band opposed to a copper band on the edges. Sometimes the 40%ers have darker edges. If in question, crack the roll and check the date.

$25 in a "gold" dollar coin roll from the mint, $20 worth of Morgans or Peace in a roll, and $10 face in halves. I always return loose to my banks.

I got one of those just the other day. I bought nine rolls and the 8th one was all 64's. Some of you may have seen the post. All of them look brand new.
I wanted to come back and say I wasn't trying to steal your thunder. It really is a thrill when you open up that kind of a roll isn't it? What gets me is how good of shape they are. Are yours all the same mint mark? I had d's and no mints.

Last Week's sort (1K) yielded 1-1964, 2-40%, 1-1987, and 4- 2008D
Great find Rodzm. My last strike like that was earlier this year. It only had 17-1964. Great to know that they are still out there. |

$380 in Brinks rolls today; 2 1966P 1 1967P 1 2006D 2 2004P
Also a 1977 with very faint initials on the reverse, I decided to toss it back because you could see them well with a loupe.
For all you guys that stuck full Silver rolls of '64's , CONGRATS!
Just wait until you get to feel the thrill of a full roll of Bens or Walkers. It's happenned more than once for me. (Knocking wood and engaging in other finding Silver secret rituals, just to keep from hexing myself.) |

| $500 MWR from Lake City bank, 1-64, 1-66, 2-67, 3-68D, 2-69D. One of the 69's has a 3/16 hole through the top of Kennedy's head, neatly taking out the eagle's tail. |

I've been through about 50 rolls today. No silver, but got two rolls that reminded me of my all 64's roll. That roll had about 8 with d mint and the rest without. The first roll had 18..2002's with five being mint d's and 13 being p's. The next roll had all 2002's with half p's and half d's. So, these 2002's are worth more than face value? I remember reading computer jones post. I'd swear that some of these are mint state. They seem thinner than my roll of 64's.

For some reason the 98's and up are all thinner, although the weight is the same. |

Fri night box; 3-40% 1 1980-s proof, no longer mirrored, but still cameo 1 error; irregular, missing reeding (not worn off, missing!) I wonder if it's worth anything???? |

1987 and any minted AFTER 2001 are NIFC. Coin shops will charge you a premium if you try to buy, and tell you they are only worth $.50 if you try to sell because they have been "circulated". I like to keep them and hope that my Kids or Grandkids will realize a premium because of the low mint numbers. The thickness seems to vary quite a bit, but most seem a lot thinner than any 1971 I've ever seen. |

| Now when you guys talk about a dump bank? Does this mean you opened another acct at another bank and deposit all the dregs there? Then you possibly use this act for daily bills food, gas etc? |

oober, yes and no. Sometimes banks will only take coin without charging you if you have an account. So, you plop $100 in a no fee account and you get to drop all the coins you don't want for free. Sometimes, you'll even get a $25 incentive to open the account. Sometimes banks will take coin from you if you don't overload them and you don't need to open an account. I like it when I can get a $25 incentive and tend to open an account and walk out with a box of pennies. I usually keep the minimum in my "dump" account by either taking the FRN's out as soon as I deposit my dregs, or wait until I have enough to ask them to order a box of Halves for me. |

| I think this talk about dumping coins has me convinced that I should mark the dumped half dollars with some permanent marker. If I get some of them back eventually later on down the road in a box, at least I could gauge how quick the turnover is. How many rolls of halves do you think a bank will hold onto until they send the coins back to the Brinks people for re-rolling? |

One of my dump banks told me they ship them out in $500 bags. (rolled) if they go into a coin counter, they are either $100 0r $1000 bags. |

So do coins always come rolled? wouldnt it be more economical for banks to offer them in bags also?
Not trying to get off topis so sorry about that?
To stay on topic, will banks order boxes for you and if so, is there a fee if you have an acct at that bank |

I don't pay a fee for coins ordered. If they say I'll be charged to order coin, I close the account and open one across the block. I can get Halves in bags of $500 if the bank has a coin counter and you are able to get them to sell the bags to you. I can get rolled halves in boxes of $500 and $1k. If you know a coin dealer he can buy bags from the mint (usually current year) at whatever they will sell them for. Sometimes(usually) the bank will order for me knowing that I'll (within a week, or matter of days) buy all the Halves and dump them someplace else. It takes time to develop good working relations with good financial institutions. (It helps if you wear a tie.) |
