Well it's been a long time but I have reached my goal. Two large containers filled to 90% capacity with pre-82's. I started sorting the day I signed up to this forum in August of '06. Hand sorted and now have over 500 lbs. It's enough for now. I just wanted to thank all the people here and over at coinflation for all the great info. I have no doubt that our hoard will pay off in the long run but I need to concentrate on other options these days.

Copper stocks ............ love them long term.
Good luck all.

Congrats on hitting your goal....that's something I will never do. When I hit the goal, I raise it so it's always something I have to chase...lol. Oh well...please do stick around!

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

So do you have any new goals yet for collecting or hoarding other things? Other metals? Food? Ammo? My personal goal is to buy another 200 oz. of silver, another year's worth of food for myself, my girlfriend and her daughter by the end of the year.

I would say that at 500 pounds you have your share. IMO, everyone should have at least $100 face of copper pennies even if you are not hard core. It's not that hard to hand sort that much. I don't think you will regret doing so down the road.

Realcent: It's not just about pennies anymore.

Congrats on reaching your goal. Still trying to determine what my goals are- I guess hoarding and stacking until it isn't fun anymore. I doubt that will happen though. Half the fun is hedging some of the future toilet paper fiat that most people today refer to as "money" with the "can't buy anything with these little annoying chips of worthless shrapnel". They say laugh all the way to the bank. I prefer to laugh all the way from the bank.

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities.

if you had a ryedale your goal would have been 10X that much. Congrats on reaching your goal.

My goal is 1 ton a year for the next 12-13 years. till my daughter goes to college. I go through way more than that but sell some off to generate more capital to sort more.

don't be a stranger. never stop looking at your pocket change or peeking at the tellers till for those silver edges.

You don't have to be the BEST you just have to be.......SLICK

I left the two buckets about 90-95% full so I can top them off with found change. Should have room for another 20 pounds in each container, maybe more. I am getting the urge to go over the border and get a few boxes of Canadian cents after Mr 1.25 tons posted about his trucking efforts. I feel the itch..........
