Hey everyone. I have some low mintage nickels ('38d, '38s), two nifc nickels ('76s, '82s), and an excellent AU '59p nickel. Is it worth it for me to submit these to pcgs or ngc? Been thinking of asking a dealer in my area....your thoughts? EDIT: the '76s and the '82s may be proofs....

Why do you want them slabbed?
Are you trying to sell them to make a quick profit?
If so, factor in the cost of grading and slabbing vs. taking them to a Coin Shop or Show and just trading for something you want to keep.

daviscfad is right about the '76'S and '82'S, they're Proofs that found their way to you. They wouldn't be worth slabbing, you could probably buy an entire Proof set for what it would cost to slab each individual coin.

There's profit if you melt things!!

If the 38 d&s are in extremely good condition, meaning you can see at least four steps on Monticello under magnification, they *might* be worth slabbing... but probably not. Graders charge a lot to the average collector wanting to slab one or two coins, and Jefferson nickels as a whole don't really command the types of prices to justify it.

Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead?

Those coins are not worth slabbing right now, but maybe someday down the road. Just hold onto them in 2x2 holders for now.
