I got a bag of pennies that had over 1800 wheats in it. Yes that's right over 1800 wheats in a $50.00 bag. Usually that would be a good thing, but this bag was mostly culls. As I said there were about 1800 wheats, 2150 copper and zincers, and 1050 culls. The wheats look like they had been found by a metal detector or in a fire, or flood they are all odd colors, gray, black, rust colored. The culls are bent, holes in them, full of crud, some are so corroded you can hardly tell they are pennies. I don't know how that bag ever made it to the FEDS there is no way those coins went through a counting machine. They must have just weighed the bag and sent it in.
So now I don't know what to do with these wheats. They all have readable dates and aren't bent or anything but with them being odd colors I don't want to add them into my wheatie collection. I guess I will just sell them as culls or roll them up for copper.

Worst case scenario, just coppers....

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

| It is the name of a river near me. There has been a lot flooding in ND this spring. I guess it's kind of an inside thing, you have to be a resident of ND to know that. |

| Would running them through a rock tumbler with a drop of dish washing detergent and some gravel for a little while help clean off any of dirt or remove the discoloration? I'm shocked at the amount found in one bag! |

I think our buddy Tom at Shirepost Mint has a tumbling method that works pretty well. I think I also read somewhere that vinegar can help clean them up. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
