I have recently started buying nickels at the bank, every couple of weeks. $20 or so.

Todays nickel find: (1) 1939 and (1) 1943 - and thats out of 2 rolls.

Nice finds. Hope your luck holds. I've found that searching for the silver war nickels is pretty easy since their darker shade tends to stand out.

Theo, I agree... a nickel is a simple elegant thing. Resistant to corrosion, cool looking, easy to identify, and generally one of the coolest coins ever...not pretentious, just there, slowly but surely adding value. Its a hedge, too. Nickel and copper both base metals, in one coin. !!!!!!

So I would agree, nickel, copper , silver, gold, ammo, food , water.

I didn't realize that nickels were resistant to corrosion. Does that mean that the paper rolls will not eat away at them or tarnish them?? If so, that would be a great way to store them!

I enjoy taking long walks off short piers.
