I was wondering if copper went up to $4.00 a pound and I wanted to sell my canadian copper pennies. Do you think the only types of buyers for them would be other collectors and scrap copper dealers? If so how much could i reasonably expect to get for my canadian pennies (from each type of buyer) if copper is 4.00 a pound? Thanks.
Even with spot under $2, I am still selling for over $4/pound. I don't think I'll get much more unless spot goes over $4 though. I don't know what to expect from scrap dealers since their prices can vary widely. When spot was $4 last year, I think the yard closest to me was paying between $2.75 and $3.00 for clean #1.
Thanks Nate. Whats clean number 1 and do canadian pennies qualify for that?
#1 is typically the highest grade of copper scrap. I'm not sure of the exact percentage purity requirements, but I think there are some threads about this in the Scrap Metal area of the forum.
