Hi Everyone -

Last week I saw a guy on a bike stopping, stompping & then bagging old soda pop cans. So I thought about it last night. I figured that if I grab 1 pop can a month while I walk my dog that it would work out to 1 pound of aluminium per month - on top of the stuff I already scrap. Then I'm thinking 2-3-4-5 pounds a month of extra aluminium for not much extra work, most of them are already crushed. Besides, I already grab the beer & liqour bottles & cans.

So today as I walk my dog down to the lake & I've got 1 can already. I see a guy walking towards me. Hes got a clear plastic bag full of cans & beer bottles. He has just cleaned out my ready supply of free aluminium cans! And its a different guy doing this now. Times are getting harder!! Too many jobs have left Ontario in the last 6 months! I really don't think that aluminium has gone up enough to warrant the extra competition!

Best regards all, Bart

Nice. Yes. Very nice.

I wouldn't get to worked up about it. Just carry a grocery bag in your pocket like you already do to pick up your dogs presents. If you see a can pick it up. People litter everyday, so over time you will accumulate quite a few. I don't think there is much competition for you if you only want to find 1 a day walking your dog. The guy with a bag full will easily miss some.

Bart,

Is there a difference between beer cans and pop cans?
“I already grab the beer & liquor bottles & cans.”

Where I live there is no difference.

There's no deposit on pop cans in ontario but there is on beer cans and bottles. They just extended it to wine and liquor bottles recently.

You have to in town, or you can pay a fine if caught lol. That's why you see people walking their dog and carrying a newspaper bag or grocery bag.

Picking up dog poo is sign our civilization is in decline!!!

As for bottle collecting you should come out to Vancouver. The can collecting MASSES of vagrants and drug addicts is truly amazing. I would bet a can doesn't sit on the ground for longer than an hour in this city.
