If this occurs, what are the advantages of hoarding pre-82 pennies?
Not trying to be negative, just attempting to stir some conversation.

If copper goes down, it only means that some of the speculators will slip out of the metal for now. A cent is still worth a cent no matter the price of copper, and since inflation is here to stay, it means we can expect the melt value (or numismatic resale value) of a pre 82 it go up in the future.
I treat daily metals prices the same way I treat daily stock prices, they go up and down every day but I am no day trader, so I keep what I have. Now isn't the time to panic, now is the time to wait for future profits. |

I truly enjoy sortin cents and looking through them. I have found tons of valuable cents such as many teen's dated wheats, also I have found some off metal cents, tons of errors, off centers, BU cents, & have completed 5 complete lincoln sets from 1940-2007 most all found from sorting. I have found silver dimes, indian heads and tons of nice condition coins. I have profited quite a bit solely from coins found from sorting pennies. Coins will not continue to be produced forever, they will be discontinued and when they are whatever the price of copper is coins will be very collectable.

Copper down? Tell me about it. I was talking to my broker all day meeting margin calls on my contracts! No wait, it was only a dream. My money in the form of coinage, is all there and still hidden safely away.
The metals market goes up and it will go down. I don't get too excited when it's up, nor do I get too excited when it goes down.
A few months ago I thought it would be lower than it is now. My mistake.

Supply going back up? Actually, the 30 day trend is down again. Also, the crimnp on the housing market is eroding demand and prices somewhat, I recon.
