I found what I know is my last Canadian George V for 2009 last night. It gave me a total of 10 for 2009! It would appear that for most people it is more rare for them to find a Canadian George V than an Indian Head...or else they are a lot better at documenting the Indian Head finds:)

I've only found two or three in almost a year. Good finds guys - I should sort more pennies. But who knows what lurks in my mixed copper bins.

I think you misunderstood. George V are Canadian pennies dated 1920-1936. What you found is a George VI (1952), which is exceptionally more common.

Doesn't count for this year but I found a george v penny in a garbage can outside a bank once, along with a vi and over a buck in other change. I was throwing something else out and the money was on top of a plastic bag full of other garbage. I should step up my penny sorting too, more hours of sorting entertainment for the same money and the old stuff kicks around unnoticed for longer. George vi nickels are definitely a lot less common than the pennies for sure.

I did. I don't know one George from another. I guess I don't know what a George V looks like then.
Thanks for the heads up.

I've found 4 Bearded Kings sorting boxes.
I've yet to find a Feathered Liberty roaming in the wild.

I've yet to find a George V, but I only average 2-3 Canadian cents in a box here in South Carolina... I mean, I haven't found a 2008 Canadian cent yet either, but I'm not going to say they're less common than IHCs!

Considering Verizon Business service? Perhaps you'd like to consider a nice drain cleaner enema instead?

I found only 2 x George V pennies (1930 & 1932) out of 30000 pennies. I also found one Indian head (1895) in the lot.

The George VI are more common and I typically find 10 to 20 out of every 1000 pennies. I also find about the same ratio of Wheat pennies.

<<<Clearly one of the best looking coins of all time. A design that <<<honors a distant king with a "far off" engaving, and the maple <<<leaf for Canada. Very hard to find these still. I've also scored <<<3 George V nickels over time - another awesome looking coin.

10-15??? As per my post above, I don't think you are referring to the correct coins. "George V" is NOT George VI.

I found a George V penny recently. It must have been in the last couple of months because it is still waiting to be carded.

I once found a significant hoard of George V nickels. There were about 50 of them in a bunch of rolls from one bank that I was able to get over a space of some days. Apart from that Bonanza, I think I have found 3.

Not all who wander are lost.
