Here is my experiance with Canadian Banks and Credit Unions across the Vancouver area. There are always exceptions between branches and tellers, but this is a guide.

I am curious to see what others are finding.

All coin is wrapped and must be deposited wrapped. 10 rolls to a block, 5 blocks to a box.

RBC: the commercial teller in the cage controls most of the coin and they seem to get a lot of mint fresh coin.

TDCanada Trust: seems to dislike dealing in coin and often do not have much on hand. All branches look at you funny when you ask for more then a couple rolls of coin. Coin is controled in the room behind, a coin vault behind the tellers and often some sitting on a small cart. Takes two tellers to go get coin from the vault or back.

CIBC: Tellers each control thier own coin in their drawer. To buy in quantity, just ask each teller one by one. They love to sell off coin. Excess coin is stored in the vault and requires some waiting.

BMO: Happy to sell coin, boxes are kept in the vault.

Scotiabank: I'm not an account holder and have had limited success buying coin. Tends to be new coin.

Credit Unions: These have been the best for coin. The prefer (sometimes require) you to be a member. Some branches will have years of acinappropriate languageulated coin in the vault. Others send excess coin off to RBC.

HSBC: I like dealing here but thier branch network is smaller. Commercial teller controls the coin and stores it in the main vault.
