I have been finding great deals at live auctions. Most of it is for scrap, but there are lots of auctions that also have coin collections. These normally come from estates, but sometimes a dealer will want to dump non-moving inventory. I have had great success with getting bulk 90% silver, old sterling (s)crap, and some ungraded numismatic peace and morgan dollars. These are the only numismatics I collect. You have to view the items before the show, and know what your limits are. Anyway, I wanted to share this link with you so that you can do your own local search for auction houses and travelling auctioneers:
I suggest using your zipcode and a 30 mile radius first in the search engine provided there. When the list comes up, look to the far right to see which auctioneers have current listings
Most of the auction houses have seating and food. BYOB is welcome at many.
I'm big into live auctions localy and use that site.
The silver [is] mine, and the gold [is] mine, saith the LORD of hosts. Hag 2:8 [/b] He created it. He controls it. He gave it to us for His use. Why did we turn from sound scriptural currency that PROTECTS us?
You want to see a funny auction? I have never seen so many MS70 coins... Graded by SGS? Never heard of them, must be this auction house's private grading service...
