I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win.

I hadn't been following gold prices very closely lately but I thought it was interesting that in some currencies gold is actually trading higher now than when it peaked in usd terms around $1000 early last year. In canadian dollars the price of gold is about 20% higher now than it was then ($1200, the highest it's ever been I believe).

Platinum has been a bit of a surprise to me. I was not expecting it to outperform gold until we were closer to the bottom in car manufacturing. However, the Japanese public has taken a keen interest in it and have been buying it as a store of wealth with as much vigor as others are buying gold as a store of wealth. So platinum is keeping pace with gold even as the new car production numbers continue to worsen...

Anyhow, I don't think it will outperform until manufacturing demand for it picks up, but it does look like it will at least keep pace with gold in the near future.

I'm hoping the gold/silver price ratio drops to its historical 16-to-1 average before dollar hyperinflation kicks in. I could buy a house and pay off my student loans in no time and still have plenty of silver left for the long haul.
