I was at my local BoA today getting one box of pennies when I saw two rolls of half dollars. I have asked for halves in the past and they never seem to have any so I thought since I saw them I would ask for them and she said ok

Then I had to bike over to Wachovia to fix a bank card error and was sitiing down waiting my turn when I remembered the rolls and thought it would be a good way to pass the time.

I really didn't expect much but upon openeing the first roll I found 5 - 1964s which stuck out so much from the rest. I was so excited.

Then I opened the next roll and there was another 5 - 1964s and 2 - 1968s.

I am so now hooked on halves.

I then went back to BoA and brought a huge bag of candy back for the tellers. I asked the head teller to please call me if they get anymore rolls of halves. I also asked if she would be able to order me a box of halves from Brinks and if i would be able to get half at a time and she said yes.

Wow talk about beginner's luck! I think you struck more silver than I have searching over 4 entire boxes of halves. Congrats!

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

Hi there-

I second that. ^

wags

Only when they CAN'T have it, ......THEN they'll want it.

I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win.

I agree with what oober said BUT there is still silver out there you just have to look. Brink boxes arent the best way to get silver. Costomer wrapped rolls like you got are the best way.

Neways VERY nice find!

Silver Santa strikes again.

"Rich," the Old Man said dreamily, "is not baying after what you can't have. Rich is having the time to do what you want to do. Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

I have just started saving halves. I live in a city of about 200,000 surrounding suburbs incl. There are many different banks in this area. I can only look for halves at the bank where I have my account. When I've went to other banks and asked for half dollar rolls they require me to have an account. There are 5 branches of my bank in the surrounding area. Only the main bank has rolls. I recently cleaned them out of rolled halves, sorted $600 worth -found 30 :) I am not able to dump at a different bank unless I have an account. My question is, regardless if I dump at my main bank or a branch, the "useless" halves will be rolled up and be around for a long time at the main bank right? I wonder how often I should go back to check for more? I would think they'd have the halves I sorted for a long time? Thanks.

Hi and Welcome to the forum!

Yes, unless your the main branch chooses to pay to ship them to the fed, or another customer takes them they will just sit there. I would suggest talking to the tellers and having them save any customer halves that might come in
