Yes a bank doesnt want my business anymore.
TCF, who my wife and I have been with for 15yrs told me today I will not be receiving 1/2's anymore because the manager didn't want to order them.
So when on the phone with the manager because I was only told as I was walking out the door, he says...
They cost us money to order .... Beh... lie I believe. They say they too much work... 2 friggin boxes a week and I have never dumped there... Lie again... They then say, you do it for a profit... So what does that have to do with anything...Weak attempt at justification... They then say... Its not fair to the bank you dump at.. My bank gladly takes my business...
I am in shock that these people in these economic times would want to turn customers away. I bet if I had 100k in my acct they would have no problem getting me 1/2's
Please of those that know this business well, tell me is any of these reasons are plausible.
TY for reading my rant...

| Why would any bank care for business when they get free money from the government? |

| don't feel bad. I went to my regular bank today. I have 5 accounts with them and a mortgage. the head teller has been real nice up till today. she ordered a box of halves for me but when I asked if she could order 4 she said she is supposed to charge me but hasn't. I told her ok thanks for ordering the one and left. I don't know if she was in a bad mood or what caused the change of attitude. she ordered 500.00 in pennies for me 2 weeks earlier. I am going to bring her more chocolate when I pick up my box of halves. I called another branch of the same bank 15 minutes away. she ordered 1000.00 halves for me over the phone. lesson learned is...spread your pick ups around. and spread your drops around. sometimes tellers have bad days. be nice. give the bank a few weeks and try again. |

| I think the most important of those was the 100k in the account. If you had that much, I think they would polish your shoes each visit if you asked to keep you from moving it elsewhere. |

Is that manager new? The few times I have had a problem with getting coins from a bank it is usually a new idiot manager trying to be a big shot.
I know others have, but I have yet to have a problem with lazy tellers. It has always been the manager. Those are some of the lamest most retarded excuses I have heard in a while...
They cost us money to order - It depends on if they get charged a flat fee for pick up and delivery, regardless of quantity, or if that charge is variable for different amounts. Usually it is the former.
They say they too much work - That is pure Bull &*%$. The delivery driver hand carts the coin boxes right up to the foot of the safe. If putting them in the safe and carrying them to the counter is too much work, the employees are over paid and under worked.
They then say, you do it for a profit - So anyone who uses a bank is not allowed to make a profit..? I would like to see the manager tell that to all his business clients... Sheesh
They then say... Its not fair to the bank you dump at - I can't believe such retarded nonsense was uttered from a professional. Since when is any business concerned about the welfare of a competitor.
Definitely turn them into a dump bank.

I second the motion. The only thing that stops me from dropping at certain pickup banks is I don't want to P*** them off. If they tell me they can't order coins for me anymore I'll explain that's fine with me, I'll just be making a lot more deposits.
Here's a notion if they want you to pay for dropping coin. - I haven't tried it, but I certainly would. Get a checking account with overdraft protection. Over draw it by $500 and then make the deposit in coin. That makes it a loan, and I believe it would be illegal to charge you to make a loan payment. The interest if you roll fast enough should only be about a nickel, mighty cheap for a drop.
My guess is they'll offer to start ordering coin for you again fairly quickly.

I love Cents. If you get an UNC box, you win. If you get a regular circ. box, you win. If you get a zinc box, you don't lose....so you still win. |

A perfect scenario for your newest dump site.
It truly seems to me that since it's "too costly for them to order coin" that you'll be doing a great service by providing them with all that coin..ha ha ha!
Keep us updated. Maybe they'll get the hint.

I agree with the dump bank scenario all the way. The only problem with the overdraft protection is that some banks charge to use it. Mine charges $2 per overdaraft. Credit cards work nice. would be illegal for them to refuse to take a credit card payment or to charge you for it. I just discussed this with my wife yesterday. She uses a debit card for household purchases every month. I told her to get a card from BofA and use it instead. That way I can use any branch as a dump (I currently have no deposit accounts with them). I believe that it will also help us track and control spending. |

| Pay close attention to the details on any account. When I opened my new accounts at PNC bank, in the fine print there is the clause "we refuse the right to accept deposits". |

Avoid that bank for 4 to 6 months then go back and ask if they'll order for you. Things can and often do change. |

| Oober, I had the same thing happen to me. It wasn't just halves either...it was all coins. I started buying boxes of coins at this bank even before I had an account. We reached a point where they told me I would have to have an account to buy coins. I opened an account, and shortly afterwards, they told me...."no more coins". Their reasoning was that they aren't supposed to supply large amounts of coins to non-business accounts. I told them they had been selling me coins for months. They said they had made a mistake and that they weren't supposed to have been selling me those coins. I felt so bad that I may have played a part in their making a mistake, that I decided to start returning those coins. A little every week. Good luck. |

| Give them about $475 in halves back. A lot of the times they can't get rid of them unless they have $500. |

That would be funny, but I'm sure Branch managers chat... I would hate to lose this option before it evern started. I will play it cool until I have exhausted TCF as a pickup bank...
I never forget things though. |

To your knowledge, is this true of most bank account contracts? Perhaps a mandate by the Fed? |
As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?
