premiums for bullion from places like Tulving or Apmex are dropping. It wasn't that long ago that rounds were >$2 over spot. Now, you can get rounds at 1.29, and 100 oz bars at .85 cents over spot.

he's even got maples at 3.25 and ASE's at 3.49 (500 min.).

on the other hand, premiums for junk silver are up and holding steady. he's charging 2.75 over spot for junk, and a .25 surcharge for halves. that's 11.26x or 11.44x face!

very odd that premiums are coming down for bullino but not for junk.

i guess they're not making any more junk and the spot price has been steady so no new supply is shaking loose. bullion on the other hand can be had from 1000 oz bars. and ASE's and Maples are more like bullion than junk.

Buying:
Peace/Morgan G+ at $15.00
copper cents at 1.3X
wheat pennies at 3X

It starting to look like to me that the silver market in general is about ready to take a dive for the summer months. It appears to be not even waiting for May this year. It could turn around on a silver dime, but I don't think so at this point.

Copper is looking good now though.

The problem (for us little people) is that Tulving has a 500-oz. minimum for .999 silver. I just glanced at APMEX, and their silver inventory appears to be recovering at the moment--they've had a lot of out-of-stock notices on several of their products, and shipping delays on others. I've been happy to pay a little more on premiums just to take delivery immediately with cash.

gold is very seasonal and tends to trade down over the summer.

silver tends to follow gold.

what is going on now is anyone's guess.

what it looks like to me is that refiners are getting bullion and turning it into rounds, small bars etc. but with the price at $13 or less, not much old supply of junk is coming on line. so the supply of junk silver relative to new bullion is low.

also, premiums for old gold have really gone up. PCGS MS-63 Saints are north of $1500!
