Yes, 2 ingredients to make, but you will probably want a third to help light it. As to why they can sell it, I think the problem is that the ingredients are so common that it would be impossible to control them. Anyhow, do a search for thermite on E-BAY, buy the ingredients, and make your own. The stuff on that site is too expensive.
1. Find some small containers with tight fitting lids 2. Mix your iron oxide and aluminum powder with a small amount of wet clay 3. Pack into container 4. Optional: make a hole for a fuse in clay/thermite mixture 5. Close the lid and store in a safe place (like at your neighbors house) 6. To use insert fuse (magnesium ribbon) and light. |

This stuff CANNOT be extinguished. If ignited underwater it will burn. It contains its own oxidizer, iron oxide aka rust. It will melt through/set fire to almost everything. I strongly suggest that anyone considering using something like this learn about it.
As for making it:
A DC inverter, like that from a model railroad track can be used on an iron source to make rust. I'm sure you all know how to obtain iron so I won't bother with that. Next, you'll need to dry the rust and get rid of any molecular water attached to it. Simply bake it in a hot oven for a couple of hours until dry and brittle. It'll have a strong rust color.
For the aluminum: this can be easily obtained from the back of an old etch a sketch.
It can be ignited with a blow torch or to aid in the ignition, a magnesium ribbon. |

| Mentioned this in another thread here but those magnesium blocks for fire starting seem like they would be pretty effective. I think you shave some off with a knife to use it. I haven't used the blocks myself but those magnesium strips you get in high school science classes burn like crazy. |

My only experience with magnesium strips so far came when I swiped a couple from my 10th-grade chemistry class and lit them at the bus stop to blind everyone else. But I'll pick up some soon for more useful purposes.
