I just found this thread on GIM--an excellent read with some very important considerations for those who are tempted to bug out into the middle of nowhere:
Your neighbors are some of the best resources you can have, in most cases. That's not to say that everyone will be looking out for what's best for everyone, but having a lot of other families on the same page as you and willing to work for the good of the neighborhood WTSHTF will go a long way.
I just got to thinking, does anyone know of any books or resources on interpersonal relationships during prolonged crises? Or any materials showing things NOT to do? I'd think something like this could be a good reference tool for neighborhoods trying to get through TSHTF as a group.
